Apologies for starting another thread on Hughes but I didn’t want this post to get lost in all the other posts.

I’ve been a city fan since I was in my dad’s sack, and one of the things I love about being a city fan, is the fans. What it means to be a fan and how as city fans we are used to constant under achievement, but in spite of that we follow City through thick and thin and always get behind our beloved team.

But recently it seems that has changed, it seems to me that a lot of so called “fans” believe that as we are now the richest club in the world we have some sort of divine right to be world beaters.

People don’t seem to believe that it will take time. You can use the example of old red nose at the swamp, but if you look more recently and take the example of O’Neil at Villa, in his first season in charge they were around the drop zone and struggling for much of the season and then in recent years they have built on from the initial platform that he put in place and now seem to be serious top 4 contenders.

Now with what I have read many people on here will no doubt strongly disagree with me but I personally feel that Hughes is the right man for the job.

Firstly look at the players he has brought in, SWP, Kompany, Zabaleta have all been superb. I don’t think he had much to do with Robbie or Jo, and although TBH looks dodgy overall I think that is a pretty good record so far.

Then I look at how the team were playing in the early part of the season. The football against Sunderland, West Ham, Arsenal, Stoke, Pompey and even the first half against Liverpool we looked superb, and although we have played shite in recent times the team has potential.

He also instills discipline in players, if elano sees his arse he should be dropped. No single player is bigger than the club and although I liked Eriksson I felt he was run by some of the bigger names where as Hughes doesn’t seem to be fazed by giving them a bollocking.

And finally who will replace him? I don’t think there is any one there at the moment better equipped to take our club forward.

So there it is rant over. All I ask is that you give Hughes time, be patient and look forward to the good times because having waiting 30 odd years since our last trophy win, I can certainly wait another 2/3 years for us to take over the world.

the thing is money and player power dont mix

and it seems like we have a player v manager war going on
and they should only be one winner the manager

yes let stick with him and let him spend money on the players
he want's then see how to pans out

we should stay up even if we dont win our next two game before the window opens

but thats when the season start for me and the 10 games after
that will see the manager has balls of steel or he gets the sack

My biggest concern that sacking Hughes will have is that Manchester City and Hughes have put together a list of players that they want to bring into the club.

Hughes’s signings so far have been good on the whole, so going by his track record he will have so decent players lined up for the transfer window. They will obviously been in touch with these players (ie RSC), what will these players do, if we suddenly get rid of the manager??

I was gutted at yesterdays defeat and the one thing that annoyed me more than most was Richards dropped a bollock at the end, cost us 3 points, then 2 minutes later was laughing and saying well done to the WBA lads. Can you imagine Rooney ever laughing after just costing his team 3 points. This spoke volumes about the lad, I’d drop him tomorrow and would rather TBH took over til the transfer window opens.

Dunnes body language even before kick off seemed disinterested. Can’t fault him, but we need to get rid of every player that is not towing his weight. We can’t afford to carry any player. Are they unhappy that Hughes is putting them through their paces in training?

I for one will read with great interest Hughes’s biography when he gets around to writing his chapter about what’s gone on a Manchester City in the last few months.

Again I'm not pro or anti Hughes, just Pro City

I've been to-ing and fro-ing over this one for the past few weeks.

I was really angry about the way we blew 2 games in a row at the death the way we did. I ws furius and my kneejerk was 'hughes Out'
However on reflecting in the cool light of the net day i feel the following.

a) It was defensive errors that cost us and top classs defenders shoul not need reminding abou tracking back

b) Stevie I was played out of position but we have really no otions at left mid just now with petrov out. Maybe he should have plyed Garrido at left mid in but he's cominig back from injury and MH learned the hard way about bringing players back too early with Robby.

c) We played some neat footy at ties yesterday but couldn't finish our chances.

d) If we were to sack Hughes this early , who is available and willing to replace him?

e) Isuspect that anyway the owners are not quite as fickle as that cowboy Frank.

f) We cannot fully judge Hughes til he has selected his own men and the ones he selected so far have done well.

So ATM from me it's Hughes to stay at least for the next couple of months or even the end of the season.

Great, level-headed sensible post. What the hell are you doing on here? :-)
