Ballet on ice .

would like to tell you it was the greatest match I have ever been to but

I was at the front of the scoreboard end and all I remember was how cold it was and that a cup of spilt oxo froze during the second half,

I remember we won but can't honestly say I remember any of the goals just moaning to my dad I was cold

still cold on the bus as we were sat by the stairs on the open backed bus moved tothe front after sharston though

funny what you remember

I was there, right behind the goals in the scoreboard end, no roof and no seats at that time. Later to become the ponsified North Stand.

The football we played that day would have been magic on a good pitch but on one that resembled an ice hockey pitch it was unbelievable and poetry in motion.

Spurs were a good team and when ace goal poacher Jimmy Greaves scored the opener I feared the worse. Then boy did we turn on the style. The clips on You Tube are not just the best clips, we played like that for most of the game and could have had a lot more than 4.

It was one of the games that you felt lucky and priveledge to have been at and one that no one there will ever forget.

My hope is that Billy Manc can build a team as good as that, I have a feeling he will create one even better.

wierd didn't notice your post until I had posted mine and we were in the same stand

Yep, got their 10 minutes late after a marathon frozen trip from Manchester with my Dad, missed the Greaves opener, so the score for me was 4:0. :P Went home happy that day and bought warmer gloves the next day too ...

Was 10 then, thanks Dad (RIP) for introducing me to the roller coaster ride that is City. Its been an interesting 40+ years.

I was there - aged 13 - and it was simply magic.

The video brought back lots of memories - especially that orange ball.

A white one might have presented a few problems.

Quality mate.Hear the commentator,,"there are only 2 goalposts in the goalpost, and Man City have hit both of them"

I was there at the game and we were brilliant and today I think that game is quite on a par with the Real Madrid vs Eintracht in 1960, a lesson in pure football.

Saw this thread yesterday, inspired me to dig out the DVD of the game and watch it this afternoon. Absolutely sensational game of football given the conditions, with some really high profile players on both sides. Pat Jennings makes a crackin save in the first 10 mins from Alan Oakes and nearly broke his hip!!

When you think of some of the high profile ponces who 'don't turn up' these days due to our weather. They don't make 'em like they used to!

Many older City fans believe this was the game when that brilliant title winning City side "clicked", after that game the rest is history, we went on to win an FA Cup, European Cup Winners Cup, 2 League Cups aswell as a League Title and a few Community shields.

Now the game on the 5th May could have just as big an impact in terms of the club's future, just as that wonderful game in December 1967 did. If City do indeed beat Spurs I for one believe we will go and and get 4th, which in the bigger picture, will establish us as a European power house.

Come on City let's repeat history. Onwards and upwards blues.

-- Mon Apr 19, 2010 11:25 pm --
