Ballet on ice .

I was there, along with many others on here, one of the finest games ever to grace Maine Road, remember it like it was yesterday...

Me too, some quality memories from that match. And afterwards the media were drooling over our performance, not knocking it as they would today.

A truly fantastic game. I could easily have had a hat trick that day:)

Great game, and it made the country take note.

I don't know if it was tongue in cheek, but was it Francis Lee who admitted the reason they played so well in that game was because they replaced their studs with nails!

Boots were'nt checked in those days.

We've had one or two memorable games against Spurs , aside from the 'ballet on ice' spectacular .......

During Brian Hortons reign ....... a 5-2 home win against them was a fantastic game.

Also the home game where we stuffed them 5-0 with Peter Barnes chipping their keeper.

And then there was the 4-3 FA Cup comeback at their place .... .

All very memorable games.

Hey guys,

I know this thread hasn't been active for a bit, but I'm looking for a DVD with this match on. I've searched everywhere, to no avail. Don't mind if it has a bunch of other crap on it, just want the match :)

I was there it wasnt a really cold day but it had been for a week before a real bone numbing chill, thought it wouldnt be played but i can honestly say it was a credit to the two teams to play a game like that.
Of all the matches iv seen since 1960 this one sticks in the mind most, it was incredible the way city moved the ball around it really was well named the ballet on ice it was mesmorising and any blue over 50 will tell you the same.
Still dosnt match May of this year though

I was there and I was freezing to death, till I got a brovril and hot dog at half time, there was around 10/12 in our group stood on the edge of The Kippax end next to Main stand, Players were made of sterner stuff back then not wrapped in cotton wool like they are now. Ahhhhh but times move on I suppose !

I was there aged 18 and sat in the Main Stand, even in those days I was dead posh.

Ballet on Ice sums this match up perfectly. One of our greatest performances ever. Spurs were lucky to get away with only a 4-1 hiding and they had a good team with some great players.

Fair dos to Spurs though as I don't remember them complaining about the pitch conditions. Nowadays some managers complain about the length of the grass and the pitch being a bit wet in some areas.
