Takes a lot of stick for obvious reasons but Ronaldo is actually a fairly decent human being, does a massive amount of charity working, donates bone marrow and doesn't get tattoos so he can donate blood regularly. Donated his golden boot worth 1.5 mil to Palestinian kids.

He's been fantastic this year and richly deserves the award. The rivalry with Messi is one of the highlights of this era of football and I think the game is better for the presence of both.
