Ballon d'Or 2023 | Haaland finishes 2nd

Messi will win it as a retirement to America present, but in an award sentimentality shouldn’t have much stock.
Why don’t the give a “very special well done, you’re GOAT” trophy to Messi and give the actual award to someone new for a change? Someone that deserves it for this year.

Rodri, unfortunately, won’t win it as he’s too good at his job and no one pays him much mind (the curse of his role), but haaland, on basically any metric, should absolutely win it

No way that a City player will win this.
There will always be some sub-plot to ensure another winner. Sergio Aguero never made the PFA Team of the Year. Alan Pardew was EPL Manager of the Season in 2011/12. Tony Pulis was EPL Manager of the season in 2013/14 and Jurgen Klopp in 2021/22.
Messi will be given it purely for the World Cup and narrowly beat Scotland’s Scott McTominay whose 5 goals in 2023 have been just the best. Sorry Rodri.
 
Messi will win it unfortunately, the WC was the one thing the world was waiting for him to win and he goes and gets the golden ball and scores in every round
 
Messi will win it because he and Ronaldo have a made a thing out of the Balon Dor way bigger than when it was awarded in the early 2000s. Now its this huge event and debate. That might be in part because of it combining with the FIFA award but they love giving it to either of them just to continue to propogate. There are have been several instances where they shouldnt have won it and did so just because either Madrid won the champions league or because Messi scored some goals. Neither have been the best player in the world for at least 5 years.

Alvarez won more than fucking Messi.

I'll be pissed when he wins it over Haaland.

He won a world Cup yippee fucking doo Haaland won a treble scored 52 goals as well. Messi was boo'd by his own fans, went out the Champions League early doors.

Should be off performances across the season not 8/10 games.

Messi is the GOAT tho.
