As much as I would want Haaland to get Balon, and this is by a longshot, that Messi unfortunately for us is the candidate for this year.

But blue-tinted glasses off, seeing Messi’s footwork and positional play is one of a kind. At least him now being in Major League Soccer (sp?), the chances of him getting the balloon is slim to nothing next year.

Trouble is for me, he didn’t win the World Cup on his own. Haaland contributed to 3 major trophies & scored record number of goals.
Fraid like every other aspect of football, it’s the aging established organisations/players that continue to win the prizes.
