Just scored twice for the Under 21's. Smiling and having banter with the people watching.

Good lad Mario.

I wonder what spin the haters will try and put on this?

Are you a bit dim?

No one will criticise the lad if he gets his head down, stops with the clown shite and performs the job he's paid handsomely to do.

I'm made up he's behaving in this manner.

Stop being over sensitive. Haters dont only apply to this thread.

Hopefully this will do his confidence a bit of good

Mario doesn't strike me as a player who lacks self confidence ... ;)

No why should he lack confidence, a black kid being brought up in a more racist country than this he should be oosing with self worth and self esteem

Confidence or not, he clearly has issues, as you have eloquently described.

It was a really good gesture from Mario to let the young Japanese lad take the first penalty and Suarez the next one.

And there I was thinking he was all about himself.

What I can't get my head around with Balotelli is the reaction when he spends a short time on the pitch like yesterday.

It is a performance that is not noteworthy at all. A small sub appearance in an already won game. Scott Sinclair did the same. Numerous other City players have done the same all season.

Yet whenever Balotelli does it, this run of the mill, nothing stuff is transformed on here into something worth talking about. Something creditable.

There are people falling over themselves to laud how, in any 15 minute cameo, "he won free kicks", or "he had a couple of good shots", or "he made a couple of good runs" or "he laid a couple of balls off". All over 15 minute cameos that draw absolutely no mention with any other player in the squad.

It is telling that the number of accolades that some people give him over non-nondescript sub appearances are low in number compared to actual game affecting or game winning performances. Yet with our other 'big' players, the exact opposite is true, in terms of ratio.

If you are seeking to find positives from a nothing substitute appearance yesterday (and that isn't his fault, he wasn't picked) then it says a lot about your attitude to him. Ask yourself if you are so keen to find the same for Scott Sinclair. Or for Tevez against Stoke. Or for any other number of unimportant sub appearances that other members of the squad have put in this year.

People invested lot of times to back him and defend for anything so they are trying to justify that investment. People are not keen to accept their mistakes so easy.

Nothing different than what Mancini does. He had put his head and reputation for him and though the only logical thing would be to finally realize it doesn't work he is continuing with same approach as long as he'd be allowed to do it.

He knows if he would sanction a sale now, it would be recognized as his big fail and could even lose his job for it so he continues with risk tactics hoping the miracle would happen and he would be seen as visionary. Poker tactics :)

The Hater

jma, fair point.

MSP, you really believe Mancini would rather be seen as a visionary than a successful manager?

Both comes in packet here, I'm afraid. He went too long with supporting Balo and as it is the big news globally nowadays, stopping it now would be considered as his personal and management fail. If Balo clicks, it would make him both visionary and add to his manger's success.

So it's kinda logical from him to play all or nothing now if he is able to have that freedom inside the club.

Ballotelli, is this the start of him realising about his career and settling down?
I hope so he could be the key to our season. My lad thinks I'm mental.
I know this is all about hope but I'd love this lad to shut everyone up in the right way. And us benefit as he is doing it.

This "black kid raised in racist country" is getting pathetic now..

Being black nowadays is not close to being Muslim in most of Western countries and black people don't get half of an abuse Muslims get on the street, from the media or even authorities and nobody is using that as an excuse for any Muslim football player nor it should be used. It has f all with it except that it is obviously the case many people have unlimited sympathies and patience for Balo.

The abuse he received and continues to receive has done nothing to shape his character then?

Time magazine dedicated an article to this very issue it's that pathetic.

I know you mean well but racism isn't pathetic, it's just vile.

I'm a Muslim brought up in the back streets of South Manchester with many black lads.

For all the shit I've had [like Milan airport as I said today], it's nothing compared to what black people have had to endure for the past 500 years and more.
