The abuse he received and continues to receive has done nothing to shape his character then?

Time magazine dedicated an article to this very issue it's that pathetic.

He is not getting any racist abuse currently and yes, it's pathetic to play on that card all the time. If we're to stop other people being racially abused, then let's fight racist, not w@nk about our own ones.

For some time now I'm trying to analyze why some people here would go to fire for him and I'm pretty sure that many of them find him as their race hero. There's absolutely no chance one would show complete lack of critics for him without taking it personal and "mes que un football". Some of them are first to shit over Bosnians who would go to fire with their national hero.

Both have fuck all with football and I don't buy that shit.

Dear god, can you imagine the shit he and other have had to put up with all through their formative years

Probably as much as you can imagine how much shit I have put through being Bosnian Muslim in Croatia in 1993. and Muslim generally after 11.9.

I'm still very fine and don't need anyone to make excuses for me with that stuff. If I fail it's because I haven't tried hard, not because I had some shit earlier in my life.

This "black kid raised in racist country" is getting pathetic now..

Being black nowadays is not close to being Muslim in most of Western countries and black people don't get half of an abuse Muslims get on the street, from the media or even authorities and nobody is using that as an excuse for any Muslim football player nor it should be used. It has f all with it except that it is obviously the case many people have unlimited sympathies with Balo.

I can assure you MSP that my defending of Mario has nothing to do with race. I was merely saying that the abuse he has received and continues to receive ( Porto fans, Croatia fans, Spain fans, depicted in his national countries press as King Kong and picking cotton) will have had an impact on his character.

It's naive to think otherwise, in my opinion.

R.sole because he is a footballer he is not allowed to have normal human emotions or be damaged by things that have happened to him in his childhood.

Now he is a footballer he is beyond redemption and should simply re-programme his brain such that anything that has happened in his formative years can no longer be used in any way as an excuse if he doesn't behave in anyway that is perfect. How can you not understand this........

It doesn't have to be you personally Rolee though I'd lie if I'd say you were not in my "suspicious group" :), it's just something that is overused.

It doesn't even do any favor to Balo himself, he can always hide behind hard childhood when it goes wrong.

Whatever shit he went through Dzeko went through 10 times worse while being in Sarajevo in 1992-95. I had a better time in DUbrovnik but guys in Sarajevo had as bad time as burning their own furniture to warm themselves in winter and eating pie from grass in front of their houses. I'd take being called black **** anytime before that. vStill, their attitude and professionalism are not comparable at all, in Dzeko's favour.

The discussion was about Mario's self confidence or lack of it. I made a little joke which I think considering his hype was hardly out of place, and the resident rsole had to turn it into a race thing.

His race has nothing to do with his ability, his confidence on a football pitch, or anything else being discussed prior to the rsole's interlude.

Nothing with your words Billy, I just heavily suspect that some people who never ever have a word of critics for Balo are looking at him with "football eyes" only.

And that black/racism card is pulled out often.

It's nothing different to how most of Bosnians are looking at Dzeko. He can do no wrong for them and everyone who doesn't think he is the combo of Pele/Messi/maradona is hater.

People seriously think that Nasri and Ben Arfa for ex. had sweet childhood in Marseille suburbs? Yeah sure.. I know very well how it looks like.

Great ending line.

I'd like to slightly change it to "because I haven't tried hard or I'm not good enough" to that.
A saying that people should think of in all walks of life.

You're right, I could try as hard as I can to be footballer, I'd still fail :)

Someone posted something earlier about me earlier in this thread to the effect that I constantly supported him because he is black. Still not sure why as I don't constantly support his actions, and I don't give a fuck that he's black.

Not sure why people can't accept that people have different opinions on things simply because that's the way life is. No agenda, no bias.

While I think Mario has something to offer the club going forward I will say so. When I don't think he has anything to offer the club going forward I will say so. If manager or owner decide to sell I have no problem with that at all.

Nationality, colour, my age etc has nothing to do with anything. Its just my opinion and people should be allowed to express their opinion without their objectivity being automatically questioned.

Exactly Moomba. He is a black man adopted as a small child by a white family in a very 'conservative' European country. He, understandably, has issues about that, and the abuse he disproportionately suffers for his fame and fortune, and sometimes it makes him angry. We all know that and try to move the debate on to a footballing debate. Some people just keep bringing it up! FFS
