Balotelli penalties

I saw a photo of the penalty, taken at the point he struck the ball. What's amazing is he's actually looking to his left but striking the ball to his right. If you look at his face you would be 100% certain the ball would be kicked right, which is where the keeper went.
What's also amazing is the angle of the right foot and bowed right leg compared to the standing left leg. The angles are so wrong that it appears he has broken it and it makes you wince. Etraordinary.
Ive noticed he looks the opposite way hes going to put it a few times, worried a keeper will take a gamble on this and save it easily, unless he does it to make the keeper think hes going to put it that way, halts his run and sees the keeper move then has an easy task of placing it in one corner

This. He does not make the choice, he makes the keeper make the choice, he then just undertakes the best course of action based on their choice. It is a thing of beauty for an economist. ;-)

He watches the keeper. If the keeper moves early he puts it in the opposite corner. If the keeper doesn't move early he can't save it anyway. Basically, if the penalty taker is as talented as a Balotelli or a Cantona, the keeper has no chance.

he isn't lucky, he's just extraordinarily skilful - watch the two against Villa last season and see how he completely bamboozles Friedel (who isn't exactly an inexperienced keeper) giving him absolutely no chance; the best double penalties I've ever seen taken.

if my life depended on a penalty kick I'd want Mario to take it, because he knows what he's doing and has the skill and composure to execute it.

I've never been so confident yet worried about a penalty than I was on Wednesday. I Knew he'd score but I was worried he'd do something stupid like a chip or whatever.

He's the master of penalty taking. Scored all he's taken. I rememeber thinking Tevez was class at them but have learnt to doubt that theory because he is shite at them and the more I look at the ones he scored, he was lucky on quite a few. The one he did strike well however was Chelsea away in the 4-2 win, great pen.

I would worry about anyone who EVER thought Tevez was a class penatly taker :)

Haha, I thought the same when I read that post earlier but didn't have the heart to take the piss.

;-)
