Band, Drums & Other Club Nonsense

Official big flags waved behind the goals after a goal is scored look shit.

Agreed. Flags and banners are the fans' domain. Don't see what those big ones along the east stand offer. Then when they have loads of them on the pitch at the cfa. It just looks like a choreographed north korean display.

Worst is arsenal where everytime they score some berk waves a giant flag with an arsenal badge on.

Edited for accuracy

Its patronising as fuck, as if they're telling us that we won't be satisfied with just turning up to these games to watch a game of football, despite that being exactly what we've chosen to do.

Its also disrespectful to the teams IMO, especially the EDS and academy games (not been to any women's games), as its like saying their presence isn't enough to warrant us all making the effort.

Don't completely hate the band in the north stand actually, but it is starting grate with some of the tunes (that have nothing to do with city) - it sounds exactly like the England band a lot of the time, but if it went I wouldn't miss it. All the naff bollocks before the game has to stop completely though.

The band is a must! The tunes will trigger the ground singing in unison!

I get the feeling that there are some Blues on here who don't own a mobile phone or been on a plane!

The club turning the volume down right at the point of that stupid twee Ricky Hatton style 'I said blue moon' jump around thing was pretty arse clenching on Tuesday. It showed they have absolutely no idea of the mindset of the city crowd:

No need for any of it. Leave the atmosphere to the fans singing, it is all that is ever needed.

Didnt go Juve but cant stand the Blue moon tune before kick off, makes me cringe when the players are waiting to kick off and the fucking pa is still belting it out.

I think the traditional slower version of Blue Moon would have more people joining in around the ground if they played it and turned down the volume like they did on Tuesday.

Tim are you living in a parallel universe to everyone else on here mate or are you a club employee ?

When band is at CFA they copy the song the fans are already singing. You then cannot hear the fans because the band overpowers them.

End product is people staying away from the stadium.

If they had canvassed opinion on this first and got a majority consesus on doing it then fair enough but you are in a tiny minority if you believe having artifical ways of generating an atmosphere actually offers anything.

This season at home games has proved you dont need a drum or a band to get home fans singing. Proved beyond doubt. So why keep flogging a dead horse ?

I know for a fact 1894 asked club to play slow version of blue moon in full - 3 minutes to really peak the crowd. Club then played supra version for 15 seconds. So club spent thousands on scarves but missed the whole point and whole opportunity - which was - play the song in full to peak the crowd prior to kick off. They in effect spent thousands on 15 seconds.

I go to watch the players play FOOTBALL. I will sing and shout when I want and sometimes, if you can make out what they are singing, will join in with the South Stand but there are usually two songs going on at the same time so you don't know which one to sing with so I choose my own. Bands/drums/stand leaders are a NO NO for me. Just my humble opinion.

FOOTBALL, FOOTBALL.

I thought of you when it happened. I actually thought 'they've totaly misunderstood what 1894 were lobbying for'.

Keep up the good work.

The day we start playing music after every goal or god forbid introduce a fecking brass band at home will be my last at the eithad , totally brownshoe

What a waste! Hopefully they get this sorted for the Sevilla game next month.

I don’t have a strong opinion on drums or brass bands etc. We had the bitch with the bell for years!
I quite like them at the EDS games.

We don't need a band to create an atmosphere - it's improving already 1894 group have shown that we can create a traditional atmosphere without the need for gimmicks.
