Band names: Origins and Meanings

There's variations on the story but Led Zeppelin's name supposedly came about from a comment by Keith Moon, who claimed that a supergroup Page was trying to put together would go down like a lead balloon. That band involving Jeff Beck and John Entwistle never happened but Page took inspiration from it for the New Yardbirds...
Surprised zeppelin didn’t call themselves the Beetles they nicked everything else.
 
The Doors took their name from Aldous Huxley's book 'Doors Of Perception' which in turn was a reference to a quote by William Blake. Huxley's book dealt with his psychedelic experience with mescaline.
 
Small Faces
Was because they were all diminutive.
When Stewart and Wood joined they were taller so renamed The Faces.
 
the Kursaal Flyers – named after the imitation train which was used to advertise Southend's famous amusement hall, the Kursaal.
