Band names: Origins and Meanings

A-ha were Norwegian physicists in the early 80's.Being a country a bit behind the rest of the world they got their name when their lead singer Horton Market jumped into a hot bath and had to leap out shouting "a-ha" and subsequently discovered he suddenly understood that the volume of water displaced must be equal to the volume of the part of his body he had submerged.

Iron Maiden were named after a medieval torture device known as the rack. This device was mainly used by evil castle owners who had their gold and stuff nicked by a goody two shoes friend to the people.Once captured they were hung for literally hours, upside down mainly, until the blood had rushed to their big fat glory hunting heads.Once this had been achieved they were then set free naked, and the local population would throw short arrow like contraptions at them with the aim of bursting their heads.
If you hit them on the head and answered a question correctly then you won a speedboat.
