Bands In Small Venues

Who then went on to become famous. Who have you seen? And did any make you think they'd make it big? AC/DC was the least likely for me.

A few for me:

AC/DC Electric Circus
Echo & The Bunnymen at UMIST
Whitesnake Rafters
U2 at M/cr Poly.
REM The Gallery
Oasis Boardwalk
Amy Winehouse, Matt & Phreds
Hanoi Rocks The Gallery
Inspirals Corbiere's
Stone Roses The Gallery
Lenny Kravitz International
Bangles International
My mate Michelle worked behind the bar at the Gallery and was there for the REM gig and many others

The Smiths - Cov Poly
The Ting Tings - Islington Mill (small room upstairs not the larger one downstairs, music industry showcase of upcoming bands on a small label. Maybe 20 bods there including Mike Pickering)
James - Manchester town hall in the council chamber (the afternoon gig)
Toyah - some room at Warwick Uni that didn’t even have a stage! After the 3rd song she got a beer crate and stood on that.

Starsailor at my local pub. About 60 people there.

Mate saw Blur in a pub.

Saw The K’s at the Rockin Chair Wrexham last year - about 300 there. They are getting bigger now.

Arctic Monkeys in some shite club in Wigan

Maximo Park in Dry Bar

Kasabian at the Oldham Castle pub (sadly now knocked down)

Alabama 3 in some pub in Lambeth

Big Thief at Soup Kitchen

The Fratellis at the Rampant Lion

Brian Jonestown Massacre at Big Hands

Bloc Party at the old Bierkeller on Piccadilly

Loads more but those are some off the top of my head

Saw Arctic Monkeys at Attic, above The Thirsty Scholar
The 1975 at Sound Control
Bring Me The Horizon at Jabez Clegg
Idles at The Castle pub
Biffy Clyro at the Roadhouse
Libertines at the Roadhouse

Used to do a gig pretty much every night in my youth so there's probably a shite load more
