Barcelona (A) | Charity Friendly | Post Match Thread

Which game were you watching
Which of our youngsters played particularly well?

Lewis was ok but was caught out a few times by Barca’s press.

Mbete didn’t stand out.

Palmer did well on the goal but lost possession on quite a few occasions and was sloppy by his standards. (Was being played out of position to be fair).

JWE looked miles off it defensively.

It’s fine, it’s a charity match but I would have liked one of them to have stood out and announced themselves a little.

End of the day it’s for a good cause but players have been injured for nothing and now we have a game in 3 days to get ready for. Absolute crazy to schedule this gane in Spain .
Those two lads have a huge zero league appearances for the club.

Someone could break their leg in a pre-season game and be out for the season… That Spanish keeper dropped a bottle of aftershave on his foot once, broke his foot, and couldn’t play in the World Cup. Injuries can happen anywhere, anytime.

Very strange game. Think it’s fair to say despite what posters said after the Bayern game Wilson esbrand not good enough to start just yet. love Alvarez work rate but his finishing seems bit erratic. Fun game

Yeah I agree re JWE - good going forward but not great defensively tonight, gave away a throw & corner through clumsiness. Alvarez should start on the right wing - he presses and looks like he keeps possession well.

Are people honestly judging the players based on that game? Seriously. They played at 50% ffs.
Palmer, JWE, Mbete, Lewis, Mbete etc shouldn’t be playing at 50%. They’ve been given an opportunity in the first time, at the Nou camp, in front of 90,000 fans.

Every time Foden was given an opportunity he took it. I remember him playing against United in a friendly in the States. We’d just signed Bernardo and I was convinced that’s who I was watching because there was a kid in the middle for us who was levels above the rest, after a while I realised it was actually Phil, I think he was what - 17?
