Here is a nice scary article on safety in barca. By the looks of it this place is rife with pickpockets. <a class="postlink" href="http://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/en/general/safety/barcelona-safety.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/ ... afety.html</a>

Oh no! Better cancel my flights and sell my Barca ticket. Will spend the days I've booked off work at my mums house where it's safe

I had my pocket picked on the metro back from the Real Madrid game. The carriage was packed and, with hindsight, there were a few pickpockets on the train who saw that as a golden opportunity. Will probably be similar after the Barca game.

One piece of good advice that I benefited from was to not keep all of your cash and credit cards in the same pocket. They got €50 from me but I had more cash in other pockets.

I've lived in Barcelona for many years and know the place like the back of my hand.

Most of the advice on here is good, lads. Please beware of pickpockets, especially in Las Ramblas and surrounding areas and metro believe it or not.

Try not to look like a tourist if you can help it although on match day that's not an option with a City scarf around your neck, is it?

Barcelona has a great metro system and the nearest stops are Collblanc and Badal on the Blue line (L5). I usually favour Collblanc. Just follow the crowd as the stadium is unmissable and a 6/7 minute walk.

Bars and restaurants are great, take some time to sample the local cuisine while you are there. There are lots of nice hotels around the city, too and if you want to be on top of the stadium for convenience sake, choose something in Les Corts area otherwise any hotel will do.

I usually stay at the Alimara hotel away from the main hustle and bustle and there's a metro stop just 200 yards from the place. Metro stop is called Montbau and it's on the Green line (L3). Just jump on and take the metro to Sants Estacio, change for the Blue line and it's just 3 stops to Collblanc - takes about 25 minutes.

This is my preference as you are away from the problem areas of the city and won't have your wallet stolen there!

Just my 2 cents guys, enjoy!

I'm not denying there'll be pickpockets in Barcelona - there'll be loads. But most people already know that and I'm sure we can take car of ourselves :-)

...And now I have tempted fate I'll brace myself for my inevitable mugging

See you there mate . Went to the friendly a few years back that was brilliant it would be a bonus if the weathers anything like that day and we get a result its gona be unreal ..

I managed a near free flight £40 rtn using airmiles and hotel 2 nights £120
costs will be taxis ,travel heathrow to gatwick and back food beer etc estimate £250
But doesnt seem likely that i will get a ticket.
So do I cancel and lose £25 in cancellation fee for flight no fee for hotel cancellation.
Save money for next round

Or go and end up spending around £350 and not see game?
