Barcelona Information Thread

Flying from Manchester this afternoon to Girona.
Gutted to be missing Uwe's return but so long as we win.

The game being played today is a bummer. Bad news for any blues going out today.

On the small plus side you'll all be chilled on Wednesday whilst I'm driving to Luton overnight for a early flight and will be knackered for the after match party.

Sorry if already posted but lot to read through

Arrive at Barca airport just after 4 PM Monday

Any advise on how much it will cost to get into the City centre please by public transport

staying at
Carrer de Monlau, 8-10 Barcelona

Thanks

I have been told you can buy a train/tube ticket that gives you 10 journeys (including the airport) for about 13 Euros, I'm getting one at the airport. Been advised to avoid taxis at all costs, maybe Britinbarca can advise?

It's called a T-10 card, and the advantage is that it can be used by more than one person. If your journey lasts for less than 75 minutes, you can change from bus to metro to tram to train without having to use another one of the 10 tickets.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.tmb.cat/en/sistema-tarifari-integrat/-/ticket/T10" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.tmb.cat/en/sistema-tarifari- ... ticket/T10</a>

There are also various day travel cards, called HolaBCN!, which cost very little and give you unlimited travel on any of the different means of transport.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.tmb.cat/en/barcelona-travel-card" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.tmb.cat/en/barcelona-travel-card</a>

Any doubts, please ask me or any of the other Spanish blues.

Cheers, but please can you clarify: Can the T 10 card be used by three people simultaneously? i.e we buy one T10 card at the airport and we can all travel to the centre and then all travel back to the airport on Thursday which will leave four journeys loaded on the card? Seem a bit too good to be true... or are they one day use only ?

Cheers

The T-10 ticket is multi-personal, which means you any number of you can use it if you're all travelling together. Just remember to validate it for the number of people travelling (scan it however many times you need). And it's not just for one day, which means that if you've got any journeys left you can use it to get back to the airport.

It's not too good to be true, it's a great integrated transport system. Sometimes Spaniards (and Catalans) do things well. It's a bit like the Megarider Cards we have in sunny Manchester!

Brilliant, thanks very much, much appreciated!

Quite a few people have posted on here about where to go for drinks/eats. I would agree 100% that you should avoid the Ramblas, Plaça Reial or Irish bars unless you want to pay a lot more.

For those of you who intend heading down to the beach in La Barceloneta, I would recommend (after you've done your sunbathing!) heading into the streets just behind the beach. There are some wonderful bars/mesones/tascas/restaurants there, and you'll find that prices are much cheaper than down on the front in the beach bars.

One of my favourites is Cal Chusco, on Calle Almirall Aixada 5. You can get a bucket of beer (five bottles in a bucket full of ice) with free tapas. But there are loads of places in La Barceloneta, so you can hardly go wrong.

See you all there! I'm leaving tomorrow afternoon.
