Barcelona Players

I was given a lot of hope when it came out that we were interested in Fabregas and Busquets, as they're arguably the two players outside of Messi that would improve us more than any other. Highly doubt either are attainable though. They'll both likely stay their until they're past it. I'm sure Busquets especially enjoys the special treatment they receive as one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Fabregas is the 2nd best AM in the world. Him and Iniesta are on par imo. Fabregas is simply amazing. Him linking up with Silva would be amazing. Fabregas is 1000000x the player that Nasri is. Watch a match of Barcelona and count the amount of key passes Fabregas makes.

I'll be super-happy if we'll sign Sergi Roberto (similar to Cesc) and Gerard Deulofeu (similar to Tello but will be much better). Or Rafinha.

La Masia is not just arguably the best academy in the world, but also a very interesting academy in how it promotes its youth to the first team; La Masia can be be looked at as flawed.

If you read Graham Hunter's Barca book, he mentions how the likes of Pique and Fabregas get to the age of 16, get bored at academy level because they are scoring ridiculous amounts of goals and winning games by cricket scores, these players cannot sign professional contracts until the age of 18 and struggle to make the Barca first team because there is no room. That is why the likes of Arsenal and United came in to snap up the players mentioned an offer them good money and first team football.

Whether La Masia can generate and carry on such a great golden generation of talent remains to be be seen, but currently they have such a pool of talent that they just cannot all be promoted to the first team. There are some absolute pre - world class kids in their academy waiting for their chance, but with the likes of Iniesta, Messi, Xavi, Fabregas etc.. It is hard to break through!

I can definately see some La Masia scouting being put in place now we have FS and TB on the board, some of them kids at La Masia are by far good enough to make first team football in the Premier League!

Sam I read the book its an excellent read, he also made reference to the nonsense that went on which meant it took 7 years to build there new youth and training center because they ran out of money. It was as much to do with contractual law and the insane politics of running Barcelona as boredom.

I'd much rather go after their young players than their current stars. Half the cost and something to build off in the next few years.

I don't rate Fabregas that highly, our national cockney-biased press bigged him up well beyond his actual abilities.

The player I would love us to sign and who might be gettablethat nobody has mentioned yet, is Pedro. He is young and therefore only a fringe player at Barca but in my opinion is at least as good a winger if not better than Edin Hazard, the current media darling.

Pedro is 25, not exactly young, but yes, he is awesome. However, I'd say he is far from a fringe player.

Deulofeu is 18 and will be better than both Pedro and Hazard. Right now it won't be easy to lay there because of Villa, Messi, Alexis, Pedro, Tello, Cuenca and probably Neymar soon. Plus he's got only 1,5 years left on his contract so really hope Txiki will try to sign him.

Mentioned here on many occasions mate. And yes, he would be immense in our system and provide something we dearly miss.

-- Wed Oct 31, 2012 9:46 am --

This is who we should be after, together with Isco.
