Outrageous goal from Lewandowski tonight.

Why? It was a poor effort going wide and took a deflection in

Technically it should be an own goal because it wasn’t even going on target

I know he’s a great player but people should stop hyping up anything a great player does when sometimes it isn’t.

Barca and Madrid believe the english clubs will join because the financial compensation they would have to pay if they didnt, would ruin us. No one has said how much it is alleged to be which is suprising but that is what they are banking on when/if they win the court case
I never understood this compensation thing, actually. Surely it can't be purely punitive - there is no financial loss the ESL if a club doesn't join, even if committed. They just invite a different club.

I remember they were talking about 300 million, which was the same as the clubs were supposed to get when it started. THAT makes sense. Leave, then repay the initial benefit.

But such a punitive amount when the ESL hasn't incurred a loss isn't enforceable, surely?

The commentator said it was absolutely astonishing. He needs to get out a bit more.

My answer is, I don't know but every so often, one of the brain deads say English clubs signed a contract which is legally enforceable. If we refuse to participate, we have to pay shed loads.
I presume that is why they are taking it to the courts. They think they can win and we will be forced to rejoin.

Which, I suspect, would suit united and liverpool as it would give them an excuse. If it does come to it, it will be interesting to see how committed they are to fighting in Court.

Barcelona post £86m profit for last financial year

Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Andreas Christensen
Barcelona have bought Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha this summer, and signed Andreas Christensen on a free transfer
Barcelona recorded a profit of £86m for the last financial year and expect to make a £240m profit next year, the club has announced.
This summer the Spanish club were unable to register new players because of La Liga financial regulations having made a loss of £422m the previous year.
However, they freed up funding with several 'economic levers'.
The club said it closed the 2021-22 financial year with a turnover of £890m.
Financial restrictions meant there were delays in registering new signings including Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha this summer.
The 'levers' have involved selling shares of their future television rights and their media production unit Barca Studios.
In August, they sold an additional 24.5% of Barca Studios to Orpheus Media for 100m euros (£84.6m) - this was expected to generate enough revenue to satisfy La Liga and allow Barca to register at least some of their new players.
Barcelona are second in La Liga on 16 points after six games, two points behind Real Madrid.
