Re: Sunderland pre match thread

Just out of interest, what did these people bemoaning tonight's game not being televised do before saturated live tv coverage?

The performance is irrelevant tonight it's the result that counts.
I really don't care how we do it as long as we win.
What worries me is that Sunderland are overdue a 'response'
I just hope they don't choose tonight to deliver it.
2-0 City.

You are worried about a team at the bottom of the league beating us at home? What the hell has for in to some City fans!

To be fair, I know where he's coming from. Game like this, after the dippers, has the potential to be a banana skin. Don't think it will be but I'd take a scrappy victory if offered it now.

Silva isn't playing tonight & Navas is very doubtful.
Both took no part in training yesterday.

Where is this news coming from now..

Re: Sunderland pre match thread

We've plenty of recent form for struggling against teams near the bottom of the league. Even teams from a lower division. Sunderland have beaten us once this season and gave us a helluva game at Wembley.

I think there's an assumption among many that the home games are a formality, its just the two away games that we need to worry about. Very dangerous thinking. If they keep the game scoreless for 30 mins, or worse nick a goal, "nervy" wont do justice to the atmosphere tonight.

Re: Sunderland pre match thread

Everyone has to be up for it tonight, and the fans can play their part. Lets show them we will fight to the end.

Totally understand where TGR is coming from. If you don't please try and gain some knowlegde about the history of the club.

I however expect us to win tonight, as I do expect a low profile standard. The days of a freescoring City at the Etihad have vanished and it's all about results these last 6 games.
They only 2 games that worry me are the awaygames vs Palace and Everton. Sunderland is low on confidence and have been on a slide down in results ever since we beat them at Wembley. They will park the bus and they will try and scrape through the 90 minutes the way Poyet wants them, so scoring 1st is the all important ingredient tonight.

As for injuries, I settled a long time ago this season that we will never be able to play a full strenght side. When was the last time we had a fully fit spine of Kompany-Yaya-Silva-Aguero from the off and without coming back from an injury? Even vs Liverpool people seem to forget that we played with a not fully fit Kompany, Yaya of after 10 minutes or so, and Aguero coming on for the last part of the game after an injury for more than 4 weeks and hardly a handfull of games over the last 4 months.

That's why I'll be surprised tonight if we don't go with a seriously attacking line up.

Re: Sunderland pre match thread

Big performance and a big win will have the scousers bricking it they know 1 slip up and we will pounce. 5 nil city hattrick for either sergio or dzeko.

We've scored nine goals in our last two home league games.
