Re: Sunderland pre match thread

Silva being out isn't a huge blow, be good to let him rest. Plus, I personally think Nasri does better with silva out the side. We have jovetic and aguero fit which is what I'm pleased about

Re: Sunderland pre match thread

May well be a tricky match with Sunderland fighting for their lives, interesting Poyet seems to have gone for the 5-3-2 formation recently with 2 dms so they may well be hard to break down. I would say pace in this game is fairly pointless as will be no space getting behind the deep line Sunderland will play.

Obviously Hart in goal as he is on fairly decent form.

Clichy showed his deficiencies all too well on Sunday and he does not have any attacking ability, Alexs' left peg could well be important and his flair for bombing on. The way Sunderland set out means they usually do not rely on width so he should be well covered defensively.

Zaba is the only choice for this game, the warrior will love the physical battle that lies ahead and his attacking runs could prove vital.

MDM - The form central defender, reads the game well and has decent passing ability.

Kompany/ Garcia - Hopefully Komps is fit, if not we need someone who can pass the ball around a bit so Javi for me.

Fernandinho and Nasri as the central midfielders, Fernandinho usually steps up when Yaya is absent, he has the energy and drive to dominant the midfield battle against Cattermole and Bridcutt. Nasri thrives playing central and can dictate the tempo of the game, some people would say Milner but against a struggling and negative side we might aswell go for the extra creativity.

Silva to play his usual floating roll, he is in the best form out of the whole team and is pulling the strings. Also seems to be having a few more shots which is promising.

Milner as the marauding winger, he links well with Silva and tracks back in case of a rare Sunderland break away. Changed the game against Liverpool with his drive.

Jovetic to play just behind the main striker, the boy is desperate for a chance and has movement and flicks that would drag around the slow and clumsy Sunderland defenders.

Aguero - The potential link up between Sergio and Jovetic is something I have wanted to see for a while. Both should be fresh and the low centre of gravity means they could find space in crowded penalty areas.

Re: Sunderland pre match thread

Doesn't matter who plays as long as that Vergini is at centre back

What p*sses me off is a guy at work (city season ticket holder) saying the atmosphere could be a bit flat tonight after Sundays result

F*ck off and get behind them ya ****

Pretty sure Bridcutt is missing due to compassionate leave.

Re: Sunderland pre match thread

I'm not sure if anyone has already said this as I don't have time to read through everything, but I generally believe the reason we were so crap in the first half against liverpool was because of the atmosphere their fans created. If we can create this atmosphere in our home games I can guarantee the players will put a bigger shift in and the away teams will make mistakes.

I'm not being negative or pessimistic, but when I read some posts predicting 5-0 I register a feeling of mounting apprehension, and astonishment that some people can so tempt the gods of football to exact vengeance on us level-headed mortals.

Same here.
I'd take a scrappy 1-0 now if it was offered.

Silva isn't playing tonight & Navas is very doubtful.
Both took no part in training yesterday.
No mention of this in the presser yesterday, source?

I was at the stadium yesterday and asked him because he didn't train.

A chance to bounce back and really boost the goal difference.

Sunderland have to attack, so I believe we will rip them a new one and be 5 or 6.

Sergio hat-trick.

You're due to get one right mate, every time you predict City will coast we invariably don't !!
Let's hope we do tonight!! :)

Not sure where you get that from, I predicted 5-0 against Fulham only the other week.
