Barry's Excellence

Top player, was buzzing when we signed him and even got him printed on my shirt even when I could have gone tevez, robinho, adebayor etc etc

What he lacks in physical pace he doubles in mental pace, very good at picking passes, breaking up play and ghosting into dangerous areas.
Can score goals too and would do if Bobby gave him the freedom but I
love him doing the job he is.

The so called lack of pace argument comes from when Ozil blazed him on the half way line in the world cup if my memory is right, very very few players would have caught him never mind Barry and that's why he's Englands whipping boy since then.

Also you don't get played in nearly every game under managers like Mancini and Capello if your shit!

He is a quailty player and always has been a quality player. It's just that he doesn't score many goals, doesnt often thread through killer assist passes, doesnt surge through like Yaya can. Many fans as a result just dismiss him without realising the quality he has and shows week in week out.

Superb team player.

Gareth barry is the invisible man. Just quietly gets on with his job, very steady, rarely gives the ball away. He has definately responded well to all our big money signings

Quality player, can see what Benitez wanted him over Alonso.

spot on op.

i was on a phone in the other week and i said that manchester city should never take to the field of play without gareth barry in the line up, they were shocked, i said you dont watch him in every game, well i do.

brilliant again last night.

Great post 100 % agree. I have to admit earlier i had my doubts about Barry but boy was i glad to be proved wrong. He is an absolute gem of a midfielder, with the current star names we have in our midfield + attack to not look out of place is a big compliment for Barry. He's as valuable to us as Yaya, David, Sergio etc.... Very under rated though by non city fans.
