Barrys the national scapegoat

Barry wasn't very good he gave away the ball far to much.

Why was gerard playing so deep. iI thought with Barry in the team SGs role was to get forward and support, i thought he had a terrible game and so did Shrek and many others.

the press will pick on a blue, they dare not pick on shrek. barry did not play well but there were players on there last night that were a disgrace.
young
crouch
rooney

contributed absolutly nothing.

Barry did have some wayward passes to be fair, and he has done in other England games. On the flip side he didn't receive the credit he deserved when he has been the heart beat of the team in certain games. He has done a lot more for England than Michael has and ever will also.

Rightly pointed out in some posts, other players deserve criticism. I like Capello but have discovered that maybe his job is done.

After McLaren we needed a manager to instill confidence, belief and discipline. His club record is second to none, and I wouldn't question that, but as the WC proved his work was done.

Barry was in the spot light last night because of the amount of possession he had. Capello was too negative, and stopped the full backs pushing on as the wingers deployed ahead of them could expose the back four to counter attack. Johnson and Cole have been key to England's arsenal and are responsible for a lot of their attacking aspects of the game.

With out that the game became keep ball in midfield.

And don't get me started on Wayne Rooney...

This^^^^^^ Gareth Southgate called it at half time. We weren't adventurous enough and should have really gone for them.

Barry was poor, but Glen Johnson was a disgrace. Looks like the Liverpool loss of confidence bug is strong in that one. I actually thought Rooney worked hard, but played poor. I gave England a chance last night as they had 4 of our boys starting. Now i'm going to go back to my protest and not bother with them. If thats the best of the best, well there's just no point, is there?

I was there last night & whilst Barry didn't have his best game, he still broke up a lot of their play & he was no way the worst player on the park.
Crouch was poor - hw someone that tall can not win headers is unbelievable.
Young was in parts exciting & anonymous.
AJ had moments of brilliance & moments to forget.
Gerrard was ok.
Glen Johnson made the best case i've seen for a while for a Gary Neville recall.
Cashley was subdued.
Ferdinand looked solid after a shaky start.
I thought Lescott was excellent though, for someone who's only palyed left back this season, he looked assured & comfortable.
But the prize for biggest waste of space rests fairly & squarely with that useless, fat, lazy scouse granny shagger. He was shite.

Well they wouldn't want to pick on a useless fat scouser.....
Barry didn't hide like Gerrard and was still england's best passer last night. he gave it away a few times yes, but you've got to look at the options for the player on the ball.

Montenegro quickly sussed out that england's midfield had 2 tactics:

1) Quickly moving the ball out to the wide men

2) Hitting Crouch

And once it's predictable it's easy to deal with

England would have done better with 4 "defensive" midfielders, allowing them to play some shorter passing, and allowing one or two midfield runners to go behind the defence

Good point. But I always think these type off teams u play kick and rush. The old fashion way like under Graham Taylor.
