Battle of the Bands Final - Beatles v Rolling Stones 217

Re: Battle of the Bands - The Clash v Oasis page 25

The Clash gave it all the mouth about being an anti-corporate, right-on lefty band, not selling out blah blah, but actually they were as bothered about the dollar as all the other bands. Not as many great tunes as Oasis either.

Oasis.

You young people are funny!!

You obviously wasn't at the Elizabethan ballroom Belle vue, young un.
The Clash by a fucking mile. As they say in Canada, who the fuck is oasis?
i was there and they were immense that night

siouxsie and magazine as support, all for a quid

Don't you start squirty. I'm already wasting valuable MA time on this thread. BTW; S&B were major league shite live or on record. I genuinely don't remember Magazine being on that night. I must have been pissed on arrival - It was not uncommon for me in those days.

A Canadian!!! Which one are you hey? Terence or Philip?

Belle Vue - early days 77ish... A good night, not a full house as I recall, lots of excitable youths wondering how to be punks (mixture of flares, thin ties and spiky hair). I may be mistaken - It was a long time ago. The Clash were never more than average - My opinion, that's all.

Not Canadian mate, Failsorth boy here. The Clash changed a lot of peoples lives that night, same goes for the Buzzcocks at the same venue before they had released an album. Next stop, the Mayflower club, Slits, Sioxsie etc.

Squirty, I think it was 50p mate. I was at the front, leaning on the glass doors when they went through. Ended up on the deck in a pile of glass. Good times.

Lol, well it's hardly "worth" much is it. Anyway, have some of this. Proper music is supposed to sound like this, not all polished up and gay.

This is the trickiest choice so far...

One band had a good album

the other band dominated a whole decade ...
