Nah, Rodri came to us as an incredible player then inexplicably got even better!

We got incredibly lucky with Rodri. Atletico reached a deal to sign him when he was just breaking through at Villarreal for €25m with a €60m buyout clause. Then he saw out the season with Villarreal getting better and better and before he even turned up at Atletico they were trying to give him a bigger contract with a much bigger release clause, but he just declined it.

He was worth 2x what we paid for him, and everyone knew it.

When the team was announced and there was no Walker I was worried: what, no one with lightning speed when some or all of Sane, Mane, Coman and Davies are tearing down the flanks? But Pep knows best. Walker can't be chasing all of them, so play in a way that removes the need. I'm no tactician (obviously) and I find it comforting to accept that Pep is.
