This is a game when the players need support - but are City fans up to it?

It's OK singing when you're winning, but what about when you're not? It's all down to us

It's what we were good at in the dark days, different fan base now especially seeing some of the comments on this thread.

Without stating the bleeding obvious but I'd love to win this.
It would shut the sad fucking mard arses up on here and at the same time ram it down uefa's throat that we're man city and we'll fight till the end.

Get behind the lads ffs.

That's the attitude every City fan should have. How many times have we been down and out? We've come back and we've won things. We never thought it would happen but we have. When we were struggling up and down the leagues had someone said to me you will be in the CL soon and your groups will include Bayern, Real Madrid, Ajax, Roma, Dortmund and you'll also play Barca competitively I'd have pissed myself laughing at their delusion. We should be proud of the fact we are playing the best sides. SO what if we haven't quite stepped up to the level. It takes years to get used to the competition. We've gone to Madrid and nearly won. We've beaten Bayern home and away. How many sides can say they've beaten Bayern Munich home and away over recent years (ignore the fact it was different seasons).

Bayern have qualified and we look down and out. It's just the scenario City need to kickstart out season. Let's step up and give them everything and make the Roma game mean something for us. We could moan about UEFA, or moan about the level of performances or we could remember where we came from and get behind our team. For those that don't want to do that, I truly hope you never get to a City game again.

Probably going over old ground with the whole 'atmosphere' situation

But would the CL be a good opportunity for us to try a proper singing section?

Clearly not the Bayern game as its too soon, but going forward would it be possible to have the away fans elsewhere and have the hole of the south stand as a singing section?

I just think this could work in the CL as there aren't as many away fans as in the PL, so it shouldn't be as big as issue to move them elsewhere, and it also means that you are sat amongst fellow regular blues in a singing section, as opposed to being sat amongst tourists

I'm not saying tourists are a problem, just that its difficult to get an atmosphere going and a singing section could provide that and maybe even encourage those that seem to have knocked the CL on the head, to come down and get involved

It's not different just older. We need to sort our act out and stop blaming others

We have grown into old moaning gits. I for one will be up for a game against one of the worlds best teams. We need to give all those extra seats to young fans 15 to 20 years old at a bargain price, that's what will make the biggest difference to the atmosphere.

In the CL Cup scheme and money taken out of my account for this match, but I will not be going.

1. Not enjoyed any CL match since we got into the competition.
2. FFP, Platini, rigged draw and shite referees I can not put up with it any more.
3. Metrolink they could not run a piss-up in a brewery and are particularly bad for night matches.

Also sacking off the CL Cup scheme next year, call me a traitor if you will but domestic competitions are my preference.

Did you go to the games when we were shite? Did you go and watch Stuart Pearce's City fail to score at home for about 9 league games in a row? Did you watch us get knocked out of the FA Cup consistently by teams below us? The CL has the same shite standard of refereeing as in the prem. The draw is not rigged, we weren't in Europe for long enough to expect an easy draw. We happened to get tough games but last season proved that we can cope. The players have been poor but they have been just as bad in the domestic competitions. The fact UEFA have now changed the seeding goes someway to suggest they aren't rigging the draws. The prem fixtures are baffling some times, are they corrupt too?

I understand some fans cannot afford to watch the CL but others, like yourself need to get some perspective and stop acting like spoilts children. You've had it so good have you that you refuse to watch City play at the highest level? You refuse to watch and support your team in a game against a powerhouse of European football. To see the players they have play the game you supposedly love? TO see City try and beat them and in doing so take us a step towards qualifying for the knockouts? Bet you'd go and watch them in the final if we got there wouldn't you. Bet you'd suddenly find some money and motivation for that. I really am ashamed of some of the City fans out there and how fickle they've become. Turned into proper rags with their attitudes. We aren't winning every game so we sack the manager and blame a rigged competition. We've battled back from more adversity than we've had this season many a time. We've come back from 8pts with 6games left let alone 28 odd. We've been shite in the CL before but we aren't out yet. We've beaten Bayern home and away before. Why can't we beat them this time? With a full stadium and passionate fans we might have a chance, probably best moody sorts like you aren't going.
Yes I did go to matches when we were shite and sat through those terrible Stuart Pearce games in the 2006-2007 Premier League season when we went the last 8 home games on the spin without a goal. I was also the only person on my row and the rows in front and behind (North Stand pre-Family Stand) when we beat Barnsley 7-1 in the League Cup on the 21st September 2004 in front of 19,578 fans were you there?

I was also at the infamous Swindon Town home match on the 16th January 1965 in a crowd of 8,015 when we lost 2-1 to a team containing our future player Mike Summerbee.

I have just had enough of the CL, Platini, FFP, rigged draws and shocking refereeing and have decided to call it a day on that competition. By the way you may be aware that the Sheikh took over our Club in August 2008 and we started to purchase better quality players, then low and behold in September 2009 UEFA decided to introduce FFP, a coincidence I don't think so.

So do not question my loyalty as it has never wavered in 60 years of supporting our great Club - it is the abomination that is the CL that I am no longer prepared to support.

now thats how you put somebody in their place ! , it appears if you dont have a few thousand posts on this forum , you are presumed to be a glory hunter who has only supported the club for five minutes. Totally agree reference the champs league , the apathy around our support , due to refereeing decisions , the draws and FFP etc , has disillusioned many fans and i will not be giving UEFA another penny , i will stay at home like a rag in my armchair , listening to the ginger minger on ITV rip our club to pieces , to appease the club from trafford who cant get in the champs league , (luckily my mute button is in perfect working order)

Wth all due respect your hurting the wrong people. Your club MCFC needs your support more now than ever. Platini and his cronies couldn't give a monkeys whether you turn up or not. You refusing to go cl matches doesn't effect them at all only your/our club. Do you watch cl on the Tele? Do see all their sponsorship? These are the people that run cl. The only way to hurt cl is through them. If you dont go to the game the next person will. Your support has never wavered? It is now.

Well said mate, some of the one eyed morons won't get it though. I'll be at as many F.A cup games as we get this year as well as every league game, but CSKA was the last straw for me, I'll give it another go when the seedings change.

Absolute nonsense. What gives you the right to say that anyone's support is 'wavering'...?

In my opinion, Gray is 100% right. I've been following City for well over 50 years and I've never disliked any competition more than the CL. I'd happily travel and pay to watch City play in a Full Members Cup tie on a wet Tuesday night rather than watch the biggest con in football. We've been stitched up every year by UEFA because Platini and Co are scared that we're going to upset their little party.

MCFC as a club does not actually need our support 'more now than ever' - The club is as rich as Croesus, and will get on quite nicely thank you whether I, or Gray, or anyone else go to the match or not. I'll very happily watch the Bayern game on TV and save my 400-mile round trip - You think that's me 'wavering'..? Well, I couldn't give a toss what you think and I fully expect Gray to feel exactly the same way.

We are lucky to live in a democracy. You'd do well to remember that before you criticise any individual's choice on how they spend their own money.
