Taken a leaf out of city's book and done my business early.
Singapore Airlines fly manchester to Munich (on a 777 for the plane geeks). I'm booked out on the Monday morning, for about £80. Coming back on the late night Lufthansa flight on weds for €70.

I've already booked the trip can't wait, like you say great beer and great markets. However if we need a result from the game to qualify a lot will book on the day trip/spike trip making the points required higher.

Flying BA to Salzburg on the Tuesday morning. Was only £48.
90 minute train to Munich.
Fly back on Lufthansa on Wednesday afternoon.
Not looked into hotels but that can wait somewhat, flights can't.
