Bayern v City post match thread

I was really proud of the performance last night & the spirit in the team. If we can take that spirit & effort into our away performances in the league then we will piss the PL IMO.

Most pundits have been hailing Bayern as the best team in Europe at the moment, so to beat them at their ground is not to be underestimated.

The idea that it was a "meaningless dead rubber " might have been taken more seriously , had Bayern put out a team of second stringers and reserves , but the fact they sent out their strongest possible eleven and the stadium seemed to be full , told me that they were taking it very seriously indeed both on and off the pitch .

Tevez made a mistake by leaving us. His Juventus side didn't make it to the next round.

I remember the "Lift" that the beating of United gave us in the FA Cup,I thought from now on we are better than they are,a huge confidence boost,we weren't the underdogs no more.Last night was a further "Lift" it lets the Champions League teams know we are not mercenaries,but a team,aforce to be reckoned with.Platini take note,we are here to stay.

Unsure whether or not English is their mother tongue mate - it causes a few issues on here. I'm of the old-school belief that talking loudly and slowly to Johnny Foreigner is the way to go: whether it works or not is beside the point (and understood to be so by actual Englishmen). The answer? Turnips mate, turnips. I find producing a picture of a bare-armed, red-cheeked, gap-toothed peasant girl rubbing her amples with a thingy-shaped turnip whilst I nod maniacally is clearly understood over there (wherever "there" is, it is all "Be there Dragons therein"). I caution you though, as Andorra was once conquered by the turnip-loving Duke Gaston of Gascony, production of such a picture in and around same is likely to end with some slight unpleasantness at variance with the outcome desired.

Tbh i think Bayern knew that we would top the group if we had won 4-2. It was evident with the worried look on their faces and them subsituting their only striker with a midfielder. That muller was also time wasting 10mins from the end.

Imagine the reaction had Negredo nicked a fourth goal. The Bayern players would be burying their heads in the ground and the crowd shell shocked. while Negredo runs back to the centre circle with the ball. " whats wrong guys? We need another goal. Hurry up and restart the games you twats"

The Bayern players knew. I do not really understand why the ManCity players did not. That there is always somebody on the pitch that does not understand the rules - yes, some footballers aren't picked for their smartness. After the Dortmund match Sahin and Großkreutz told in an interview last week that they had to ask Kehl if it is enough, too. Why I mention this - where was the communication in the team? I am pretty sure e.g. Demichelis knew it, too.

But that influenced the match a lot. Bayern started the match great - and then lost the tension. The 2:1 was not really bothering - but it got strange with the penalty after the break. In a normal match they would have just gotten back in gear and gone for the next goal - but as this result already was dangerous they did not.

The substituting Mandzukic vor Shaqiri had nothing to do with the scenario. That is a normal change at Bayern - even when the offensive is in full gear. Mandzu even often tackles near the other box. Shaq was out because of an injury for 2 months and needs match time.

City did what they've been doing all season. Create chances and score goals without having too much of the ball. Guardiola warned his players that City can score goals very quickly, they didn't listen to him because they are too arrogant. They thought they were "untouchable".

If Bayern fans are claiming that their team weren't trying, then we can make the similar claim that City weren't trying the first 20 minutes.

City was not only not trying. They were scared to get bundles after Müller and Götze scored. And yes, the Bayern players were somehow arrogant. They thought they can bring home that match without a big effort then and got slobby. Somehow understandable, too - the most of the players did not get any rests during the recent weeks because of the injury problems and it is the last 4 matches until the break with the highlight still following. And then the match just went its way.

Müller called it the best worst-case-scenario. If something could go wrong it was that match and with this end. You loose but at the end you still are the winner as it could have been worse. You have the learning effect that matches can go this way so you keep concentrated the next times (they did after Arsenal the last year for a very long time) - but everything ran so smoothly recently that they maybe thought nothing can harm them. Guardiola even told that it was good that they lost again. For City it was different. Yes, it was a win - but at the end it was a loss as you weren't far away from winning the group and partly lost it out of stupidity. Your players aren't newbies and the awayrule ain't something really strange and difficult. The most fans knew about it. In the Bayern forums they were joking during the match when Hart was slowing the match down at the end that they do not know - that it was like this is somehow funny.

What did it show at the end? As long as Bayern kept concentrated and really worked for it they had the upper hand in both matches. But ManCity - no matter if first team or filled up with bench players - is no team you can play careless against. And - you can win against Bayern if they let you.

I was in the Bayernforum yesterday night. And even if nobody likes loosing a lot just thought that it was not bad that they did. Gets them on the floor again. And kills the hype a little.

It is incredible that the media will pounce on any small thing to gloss over our victory at Bayern, which if the rags had achieved it with a FULL strength side they would have been repeating it over and over for weeks!

That win with mainly our reserve side out there just shows on our day we can beat anybody.The progress we are making on and off the field must terrify the bastards,it did Fergiescum he got out while the going was good,running like all bullies do when his victim for years started giving him a few bloody noses back.

It is going to be fantastic watching all these scrotes have to suck it up when we start to dominate world football one day soon!

It was pretty much bayerns strongest available team and the fact that their captain lahm was trying to waste time at the corner flag with about 8 -10 mins left including ET speaks volume
