Happy if we both take a deep breath, calm it down and bring it back on subject.

They would always make more than us atm as the formula for market pool distribution is skewed by previous participation but I can't quite work out how. So even if we'd got exactly the same results as them, they'd get more from the group stages than we would for the moment.

The market pool is given out at the end of the group stage so doesn't depend on how far we get in this season's competition as I understand it. So Spurs earned a total of €25m before te knock out stages prize money was added. That should be roughly what we get. Rags & Chelsea got about €38m each from the group stages and the rags got another €16m for getting to the final. So they'll be a few million down on last year plus all the ticket/commercial/merchandise revenues, which could be at least another £20m. That's probably near enough their bond interest payment for the year they've dropped.

yeah, I'm cool with just carrying on, I just made a joke about Dave and didn't appreciate your pea brain comment, which is why I brought up the other thread and so on.

Anyway I took Spurs figure as it was the lowest, Arsenal was 16m Euros, United 25mE and Chelsea 27mE, we won't get as much as them but we had some pretty high profile games, were always on SS2 or ITV1 so maybe that'll have some bearing.

End of the day we'll make a tidy profit on this season and another next season once we improve so it'll all help to FFPR, United have dropped a bollock and hurt themselves twofold, one with any repayment and the other it's £15-20m gone that they could have had on a central midfielder, and the likes of Sneijder won't come as they're in the CL and youngsters like Gotze will cost a fortune.
Those figures were just market pool though and don't include the other prize money for being there and wins/draws. A Spurs fan told me he reckoned their overall take from the CL was somehere in the region of £45m. Deduct £15m for the knock-out rounds and we've probably grossed something like £30m across all revenue streams.

yeah, but that's why I said in my other post "participation bonus", "performance bonus" etc. and also said our matchday revenue would go up as would our money from sponsorship deals.

A little bit of Tevez out the door.A little bit of Vidic on the floor. A little a bit of Nasri on the side. A little bit of Rooney shooting wide. A little bit of Mario having a laugh. A little bit of Nani on his arse...Ladies and Gentleman - Channel Number Five.

Our group contained teams from each of the 3 major leagues outside England ie. Italy, Germany & Spain.

Their group was even easier to get out of than the Sugarbabes.
This is the best one so far. Brilliant stuff, Boots.

Damo & LT, I'm calm and not having a breakdown, just slightly annoyed that I get jibes for making a light hearted comment after already making a researched contribution to the thread, but what should I expect...don't think I'll bother anymore.

Fair enough mate, was a bit worried. Fill your boots then cocker :)

Mario troubles the media far more than anyone important like his employers.

Erm...what has happened on here?

JMW are you having some kind of breakdown?

Back to soundbites....I'm writing a piece tomorrow for Saturday's Sabotage Times about the myth of United's current squad being young and in transition.
After the games last night me and my brother listened in amazement as one rag after another phoned in to the radio station and claimed this as the reason for their Euro exit.
So tday I've done some pretty poor maths (not my strong suit) and worked out that City had a younger team than United last night and furthermore our 25 man squad is younger than Uniteds.
So this 'Fergie's Fledglings' bollocks is precisely that.
'Bobby's Boys' anyone?

If someone more intelligent than me could have a go at working out each squad's average age and see if I'm correct then that could make a decent soundbite. They're bound to bring up the age myth.

Nice one LT! Keep up the good work mate.
boy do we need on- the- button- blues like you to help redress the lazy journalism ( ie pure fantasy) which seeks to perpetuate the fergies babes mythology in the media...anyone would think duncan jones had been brought up through the utd ranks or signed from hartlepool at the age of 12, rather than costing 16M from another prem club!
