Being Priced Out - West Ham

Whilst ticket prices are a joke, I can only have so much sympathy for fans such as yourself.

I wish I could pick and choose which away games to go to. I'll get to 2 this season probably, 3 if I'm lucky.

Nothing personal, and perhaps some might think this is a selfish viewpoint, but we all want that bit extra and in my case that would be to be in your position of having the opportunity to go to so many.

That's fair enough. I didn't mean to sound snobby or anything in my post... I just see myself as someone who earns a decent amount of money and has basically no living costs or responsibilities - If I'm struggling to justify £55 for a 12:45 KO over 300 miles away, then what other type of person do they expect to go? Because in 10 years time when I have kids a house and so on, how would I be able to afford it then?

PS

All away games should be priced at a fixed £30 for the away fans.

Completely agree.

Just because Manchester City are a big draw for people living in East London doesn't mean an average bloke from Manchester see's West Ham away at £55 value for money.

Didn't come across that way at all mate, you're simply stating the obvious that prices continue to spiral upwards, which no one can argue with, while I added my viewpoint as a non away-goer.

I think the only solution to everyone's problems is to make grounds bigger (look at Wembley - it could have been 150k capacity and would still be full for cup finals, the Etihad could be filled with an 80k capacity for the derby and Arsenal, Chelsea games etc IMO) and for prices to be reduced alongside this. Of course this is never going to happen.

I've got kids, mortgage and plenty of debt! I'm going only because I promised one of my lads I would take him to West Ham before the season started. I had this forlorn hope that West Ham might have done something with the prices due to kick off time etc. I really can't afford it. £87 for the 2 tickets with train, tube and light refreshments on top - it's going to be a very expensive day. It will probably be my only league away other than boxing day this season and I, like many others, used to do every game home and away in the not too distant past. It's depressing that it has come to this.

I have been going home and away for the last 7 years since leaving education and having a full time job.

Im at 100% for this season however found myself priced out of both West Ham and QPR.

I shall be kicking back watching on the sofa with a couple of cans.

one thing I hate is the category charges. If you support say crystal palace playing away to west ham they will charge far less than for us and we have expenses getting down there also!!

Sorry to hear that mate!
Getting the train to London just isn't an option for me anymore. £80 + £10 for the tube is just ridiculous.
Depending on where you're based it might be worth calling round supporters clubs and seeing if they have any coaches going - or even directly to the club, they'll definitely have one.
