for the past 3 seasons I've attended the majority of City games home away and in Europe, but after looking at my bank balance and the price of tickets this season, I think I'm finally being priced out.
In the past 3 years I've been given a promotion at work, I still live at home and the only things I really spend a lot of money on is saving up for a mortgage and City. But so far this season I've spent £200+ taking my girlfriend, her brother and his friend to Wembley, Over £600 on a season card, around £400 going to Munich.
Then you look at individual ticket prices:
Newcastle cost me around £50
Arsenal away £64 - later reduced by City to £32. - didn't go out of principle.
Hull away - £50
Villa away cost me about £50
And now West Ham coming up would cost me a minimum of around £80 and that's if I drive myself and cant have a beer.
Then you throw in the couple of home cup games which cost about another £50......
All this, as well as other things like filling up petrol, saving up for Christmas, etc... I don't know how some of you do it, especially those of you who have a family and a mortgage to pay!
I still want to go to games, but I can't justify paying that much to go to a horrible part of London and watch a rubbish team when I can sit in the pub and watch it on tele. I really think in 10/15 years travelling to watch your team will be a thing of the past. Surely something BIG has to be done soon to prevent this from happening.
(And if this is the cost of success, it makes everything about being a football fan bittersweet).
