Belgian Fans (merged)

I don't like Kompany. I think he's an arrogant twat who puts his country before the club who pays his wages. We've had some other talented players who I feel the same way about and don't regard as "great". Great players are the ones who respect our club and its fans. I don't think he does.

That's my opinion and you're free to disagree with it. But you aren't going to change it.

I think Kompany goes out of his way to respect fans, after the previous loss at Arsenal only he was only one of 3 players who came over. However he earns an obscene fortune for playing for us (or not this season mostly) so I don't think the fans or club owe him anything.

We should embrace fans from where ever they are from if they start coming to the home games there might be less empty seats

I agree. I noticed some of the regular Belgium Blues were not at the game. This might be a factor contributing to the bit of tension because the Belgiums just seemed to be supporting themselves and not the team!

Clearly a difference of opinion of the definition of "great", which is fine. No one is trying to change anyone's opinion - just stating a different, and I suspect more widely held view.

I'd wager most seasoned City fans would say Vincent Kompany is a great player as he has been a key part in our recent successes. I don't see him as arrogant at all, or worthy of any of the disparaging words n this thread. He is a great City captain and leads the team with true distinction. I agree with Corky that he does out of his way to respect fans. He was wrong, though, to go and play for Belgium when he hadn't played for us. At best it so happened he that he was deemed fit for that match but not quite for the league match - still no reason to play for Belgium when he hadn't played for City in my view, but he is no less of a City great for me (he's done so much as a City player and captain that he is so far in credit), and I suspect the vast majority of Blues. Absolutely love the guy.

I bet you loved Alan Kernaghan though!

Vinny's a legend if you don't see that then too bad. I know Vinny prioritising his country has affected his popularity a bit.

The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Vinnie think's he is the leader of our club and I am sure that many in the dressing room don't feel the same way, Joe Harts recent interview was very revealing and honest.

What did it reveal? I didn't see/read the interview myself.

Basically said Kompany will never play a full season again due to injuries and City need to move on and not rely on him (Kompany).

I took it as a vailed criticism of Kompany.
