Belgian Fans (merged)

For tourists is only one shot, perhaps in a lifetime. People from and arround Manchester, or even England, have a few shots per month. Them beeing now, just Before Christmas, I think it was just coincidence, the only free time for them. Every tourist would prefer to visit Etihad, I m sure.

That's it fella, you've got it. At the Etihad they're welcome with open arms. At an away game is a different story. Imagine your club was playing an away game and you had a small allocation of tickets. This is a huge game for your club, you win and let's say you're top of the league vs second place. You've been going to games for all your life and you miss out on a ticket because me and my mates want to go, we've never been to one of your matches but we want to go to that. You miss out on the tickets because of us. How would you feel?

No... You just think of what would be ideal. Go with your friends to away games, have a nice chat and a nice couple of beers, people that you know for a fact that grew up with City in their hearts.. This is how it used to be. Everything changed now. In Benfica they have more 'socios' than chairs in The stadium. People that pay every year and cannot attend not even1 game and still they have foreign tourits at their games. Would you prefer to watch City in a CL final on tv or attending a League Cup final?
That is all irrelevant. You keep missing the point that these Belgian "fans" skipped the queue to get to the game - that isn't right before you spout that international fan bollocks.

No one has a problem with foreign fans, there are plenty on here who are foreign and are equally as welcomed - there is no problem with that. These fans are fine to attend home games, or even away games that don't sell out. But when City fans that have spent thousands and spend half their lives watching the Blues just to get sold out and be told they can't go to a crucial game just because a Johnny come lately will spend more and has the support of the club captain "supposedly". This isn't right.

An example, I'm the only English member of FC Ingolstadt 04. I went over to watch a game the weekend city played Stoke away (which I would've gone to), Hoffenheim at home. By no means is this a "large" game for them - well most games are in that sense as they've just been promoted. Did I have the audacity to pay double the price for Bayern at home or the local derby against Augsburg? No because the fans that have followed them through thick and thin deserved to go more than me.

Or an analogy if you're still struggling to see the whole point of the thread. You're a local customer of a local restaurant and go every week, you're friends with the owners and live in the vicinity. Suddenly the restaurant is featured on national TV and becomes more popular and as such more people from a far ranging radius want to go. You arrive one week for your usual slot and are told sorry its booked out now - you can't go. You ask why and someone who has never been before is willing to pay three times the price you pay. You've been sold out and your loyalty counts for nothing. Granted, not the best analogy but it does the job.

The whole concept of an away support. Fans who support the opposite team to the home support; can we really say all those Belgians are city fans? Or rather Kompany and De Bruyne fan boys. Seen as though you have no problem with any of this; next Rapid Bucharest game I'll invite about two hundred Dutch lads (who will take tickets that local fans can't now have) who are only present to support your central defender Patrick N'Koyi. These fans will have selfie sticks and half and half scarves, and don't care a jot if Rapid get beat as long as they see their beloved N'Koyi. You'd like that, no?

This isn't a rant against Belgians, or fans who aren't from Manchester or indeed the British Isles. Moreover its against how the club are selling the base support out for lets face it glory hunters or player fan boys just because they can pay more. This isn't right.

Rapid if you wanted to come and visit Manchester and take in a game at the Etihad you'd no doubt find loads of blues willing to get you a ticket for the game and in some cases even use their own ticket. This isn't an issue with regards fans from other countries not being welcome or wanted by the club and it's supporters, this is an issue with a huge game that's hugely popular having it's ticket allocation distributed unfairly to the detriment of blues that have been supporting the club for years.

I'm not sure if you're just trying to stir up trouble here or are just generally thick but you are annoying me and others. Let me try and explain the problem that many of us have with this.

No one has a problem with foreign fans following City or attending home games. In fact we welcome it as there are always generally seats available at The Etihad and if a Belgian group wants 200 then that's not taking the tickets away from someone who really wants them. I've taken two Estonian friends to a game which is normally one of the more popular ones. But this is about AWAY games that we get maybe 2,000 or so tickets for and that City could sell far more of to fans that have followed them home and away for years and have the loyalty points to prove it. But at this game, we already lost 200 tickets to some corporate offering with a meal beforehand and then another 200 that the club have somehow arranged for a group of fans that have probably never watched a City game before and were there more to support the Belgian players than the club. That's 400 tickets out of 2,000 or so that fans who have followed City for years and were happy to suffer the inconvenience of taking a day or two off work or travelling for hours to places like Reading, Crystal Palace and Sunderland midweek and getting home at 2 or 3 am can't get.

Do you understand why people are getting annoyed about that? Let me give you a clue - the answer is 'Yes'.

Let's say your last game of the season was away. Win that and you're promoted. You miss out on a ticket because me and my mates want to go. We've never been to one of your games and you've been going all your life. How do you feel?

You got it wrong. :)))) I am a Rapid fan, not fucking steaua. So please, do that. They are all glory hunters anyway.
If I have to choose between me going to stadium in 2nd league or watch them being Champions at tv, let them win it.
