Belgian Fans (merged)

It really doesn't matter that any of us were born 100 yards from the sound of Hellen's bell in the north stand. Or that we've never missed a game since we were knee high to Colin Bell's shin pads. Since ADUG bought us, we have to accept (and welcome IMO) new supporters that come through the turnstiles having taken City to their hearts. If we ever fell from grace to the depths of the old third division, then i'd still go to games whilst the 'glory hunters' have long since dispersed en masse, but that is very unlikely to happen. Whether we like it or not. half n' half scarf wearing camera clicking tourists (just like the ones at Manure) are now attending live games every week.

i think most fans have accepted it, but to have 200 odd fans all stood together that clearly were only there because of our belgium players, whilst actual city fans couldn't go. How is that fair ? why should we accept that. we are nothing like united right now in terms of tourists attending.

i hope we never end up like them - a ground full of tourists, while all the locals and hardcore are in the pubs.

There is a large contingent of City fans with a small time mentality. The club is progressing and they are not, or they are not willing, to adapt to the fact that with success, the club will attract new fans from all over the globe who have now taken City to their hearts. If it's because they are Belgian and we have belgian players then great, why should they not be allowed to attend the games ? Eventually they will take City to their hearts in the same way we all have. I know plenty of long standing, local supporters who don't have the requisite points but use avenues like supporters clubs to get tickets. These people were City fans during the bad times but didn't put in the hard yards attending games but they still secure tickets when by rights they shouldn't.

To be honest, I firmly believe that we need to break the shackles from a lot of the 'old' supporters. They are mired in pessimism believe they are too 'cool' to sing and get behind the team. The club are changing and they are not changing with it, they seem to revel in the misery of an unsuccessful club and for my money if they can't cope I the new world of supporting a global brand the perhaps they should go and look for a macclesfield or stockport that will reflect their traditional values - City have outgrown them.

Controversial viewpoint admittedly but this small mindedness does my head in, if you're a blue, you're a blue, irrespective of where you're from or what motivated youu to support the club.

I'm reply starting to get fucked off with it last night was a joke.
Even home games there's loads of foreign fans near us in 220.
Then u get scouse twats with half and half bollocks.
I'm really starting to think I might fuck it off altogether.
And no its nothing to do with the way we're playing I've had a season ticket since 87.

They won't, they will follow whichever club(s) Kompany and De Bruyne end up at next.

It wouldn't have been an issue had it been, say, Norwich away in the cup, but it isn't, it's one of the most attractive away fixtures of the season.

It isn't fair at all blue and the club needs to look after it's longstanding paying supporters. But unfortunately the nature of our new found beast is money, and if tourists pay the cash, the club will let them whether long standing fans can still able afford to go to games or not...

Agree with what you're saying, which is why i thought the blues that were aggressive towards them last night were absolute bellends. However, the issue here isn't whether we should accept fans that aren't necessarily City fans or fans from abroad, the issue here is how they've managed to obtain a 200+ section of away tickets for a game that sold out on about 12000 points. It makes a mockery of the ticket points and the platinum scheme and shits on people who just missed out.

what a load of rubbish - a small time mentality ? ?. do you think its fair that city fans even with enough points couldn't get tickets, yet tourists who clearly aren't fans are able to ?. for one of the biggest games of the season. your answer seems to be if you dont accept it go and support stockport or macclesfield. ...... why should we as a fan base accept that and allow a situation where long standing blues can't go anymore. i didn't realize the new world of supporting city involved fans not being able to go anymore :) lets just accept that though or else we are small time.
