Maybe we should emphasise our history with a statue of say, Billy Meridith and on the plinth the 1904 FA cup win, the first by a Manchester team.
Kev & Pep will be nextNo more statues for a while now. Six is more than enough. We have probably more statues than any other football club I can think of now. Any more and it will start to become cheesy and also devalue the meaning and the presence of the existing statues.
You're not the only one who's been in tears mate, proper cracked me up seeing Franny.I’ve just watched the documentary, it is fabulous. I’m not ashamed to say it made me cry; not just for the loss of Colin & Franny, but for personal losses of my younger brother and my dad. Well done to all involved in the whole project, a fantastic tribute to 3 legends.
At some point in time the whole stadium will be surrounded by statues.
A cheesy statue with “its great to be a blue“ carved into the plinth? No more statues for a while now. Six is more than enough. We have probably more statues than any other football club I can think of now. Any more and it will start to become cheesy and also devalue the meaning and the presence of the existing statues.
I got in touch with the developers some time ago about a possible archaeological dig but that never got anywhere.Gary
While we are on the subject of names ,i dont know if you are aware of the new housing development on the old Hyde rd site ?
It would be very fitting to name some streets ,after some Hyde rd players ,not unlike the footballers estate in Moss side
just a thought.
I don’t think he’s kicking. The sculptor talks about him balancing like a dancer on the video. The statue looks amazing but I have one minor issue. It shows Colin Bell about to kick the ball with his left foot although he was predominantly right footed.
