Bellamy "likely" to be a city player by end of Monday.

If he works hard and runs his bollocks off, I think he will be another Paul Dickov for us. Ever since he was first linked to us I keep thinking about Dickov. Pisses other teams players and fans off and won't shy away. He's a typical British number 10 who can score goals and do better than what we have already got and has got skill. Also,
Hughes got the best out of him at Blackburn.....hopefully he can do the same this time around![/quote]
£10m does seem too much, but let's face it, now we're not in a position where we have to save the pennies. If paying £10m for him means we get a regular scorer and pick people up lead from the front when head's drop on a bad day....then I am fully behind Hughes on this decision!

And also for Wales. Let's give the lad a chance

2 questions about your post, if I may

You said that Hughes gets the best out of Bellamy and from that I take it you view that as a sign of a good manager. If that is so of the players that are at the club now(from before his arrival), which ones other than Ireland would you view as players Hughes is getting the best out of?

Since when has Bellamy been a regular goal scorer at the highest level, seeing as he has only been in double figures twice(in the top flight) for the 7 clubs he has played for?

Well, he seems to be scoring regularly for West Ham this season.....I'd rather he score them for us than for a rival. You could say he scored regularly for Newcastle, Celtic & Blackburn (when he worked with Hughes). It depends what you see as scoring regularly. Many teams are not going to let their best player's go this window. So we're not going to get the Adebayor, Torres, Rooney, Villa, van Nistelrooy's etc of this world, who score 1 in 2 games. Bellamy IS one of West Ham's best players. I'll take him off their hands. Vassell doesn't score regularly, but he gets in the squad. I would rather see Bellamy playing than Vassell.

I don't think that Mark Hughes has started off doing a great job for us, but from his past record I still believe he is one of the top British manager's around and just needs to be given time, which is what other's got (i.e. Fergie, Moyes, O'Neill, but to name a few). You have said yourself that he has got the best out of 1 player here before him (Ireland). Look at the other top performer's.....Robinho, Kompany, SWP. Yes, maybe they are not playing at their best, but they are all Hughes signings. Yes he has signed some crap aswell....Jo, TBH, but who doesn't? Also, if you believe what you read, they were Frank/Sven's signing's, not Hughes.

The players are saying themeselves they're doing the right thing's in training. Must say something when the best performer's, bar Ireland, are all Hughes signings.

Tend to agree, he works hard on the pitch and gets stuck in, we need fighters on the team, and if he's playing in blue and doing that and scoring I'll be a fan! Just concerned by the price, but Hughes needs a few allies and Bellamy ticks that box!

Just think of it as a donation to the Keep West Ham Up Fund.

Most of us don't want to see the Hammers in administration or relegated, so for that reason I'm fine with paying over the odds for Parker/Bellamy/Upson. (I'd prefer Upson the most of those three.)

I know Hughes wants Premier League experience, I know Bellamy gives his all, and I know that buying him will weaken the West Ham side. I just don't like him and I can't see him being any better than what we have if we continue to play one up front. We need somebody who's going to win the ball in the air and have the strength and ability to keep it. Not another short quick player.

Also, while I know West Ham have money troubles, surely they could bring in a replacement, if they feel the need to, for a fraction of the cost.
I'm not saying we shouldn't buy from the Premier League, I just think we should be astute. Teams around us can't afford to make big signings, unless we move for one of their players. Maybe we should keep it that way by spending abroad, it might mean players will take slightly longer to settle in, but it also ensures our rivals don't have the spending power to improve. And hey at the end of the season if West Ham go into administration we could probably pick up Bellamy for pennies if we still want him.

Thank you for your response I respectfully disagree(btw he has scored 5 goals this season), but you put the strongest and most well thought out case I have heard for signing him to date.

I can't say I want either one of them to be honest either.
come on even i'd take the granny poker
I think in a team that has questions of leadership(that I think starts from the manager)berberflop only seems to turn up when he feels like it and shrek seems to be the kind of player that blows hot or cold and in that lone forward role you need someone that will turn up week in week out.
