Bellamy

I agree entirely with everything you've just written! I am in the same position regarding Robi.

The reason I brought it up, is because I suspected that was Immaculate Pasta's original, unspoken point really, & I agree with him too! If I've read his OP correctly, I don't think he was having a go at Bellamy, I think he was just trying to provide the contrast between the differing sets of reactions that the two players garner from the fans. We'll leave the comparisons between their workrates for a different thread (actually, I hope to god we don't because its been done to death).

The only thing I would say is that many on this thread have brought up Bellamy being played out of position in his defence! I would like to take this opportunity to use the same defence for Robi & its arguably more striking in his case, as its my belief that playing him on the wing highlighted his lack of tracking back more than would have been the case, had he been played in his more favoured, central role!

Finally, it's only taken 6 pages but i think someone has got it!!
well if that was the case why did you not highlight this as vonks has done and it would have saved me and you a hell of a lot of typing

I'm a very perceptive man you know!! Could I offer my relationship counselling services to you both?

;-)

i think bellamy can not be relied upon to be consistently on form. The guy is shot to bits, it's credit to him that he comes out every game with the same engine and work ethic. But, as he says himself, he cant play two games in a week, he only partly trains. I'm glad we have johnson and petrov, so they can provide competition and relief.

he is technically out of position, but he can play wing. His final ball isn't the best, but he's very effective cutting in on a defence, and unlike petrov is willing to use both feet.

I like bellamy, but i think we expect far too much from him...

It's pretty obvious that Hughes's team was more centred around Bellamy who was on the left of a front 3, whereas under Mancini the formation is different and is less beneficial to him. He never adapted to Benitez's system at Liverpool and he's yet to adapt under Mancini.

Another shocking game and no mention of it again.

Zabaleta was yesterday's scapegoat, Robinho was the scapegoat every week, why is Bellamy never made to be a scapegoat from those on here?

Or does it not matter because he runs around screaming and shouting with passion?

The idea of a scapegoat really does get my, err, goat. Team game, corporate responsibility. In it together.

He's going through a rough patch of form, still trying as hard as ever. We have a squad but the player who would provide competition for Bellers place ran away to South America with his tail between his legs, leaving his spat out dummy rolling around on the frosty training ground.

Bellamy is still living off the reputation he got in the Hughes era and in fairness to him, he was our best player at the start of the season. As I feared, since Hughes left Bellamy has lost something from his game and it's telling. He is getting away with it for the moment but I reckon 2 or 3 more stinkers like saturday and he might be the new scapegoat. I hope not.

Lets face Bellamy has come out and said he may only have another season at top level left in him due to his shot knees.
On saturday the whole team was poor there was no drive or passion and thats down to the 11 players who pull the blue shirt on.
Hopefully now Vieira is fit maybe he's the one to lead the players on the pitch and give out the bollocking that is needed at times when the players are being poor.
There is only so much Mancini can do when the match starts and if the player's are not up to it then they need to be shipped out
I just don't know at the moment if the tactics that Bobby Manc is using are suitable for the premiership as this league is faster and more attack minded than Serie A.
We need a lot better work rate and ethics on Tuesday and for Christ's sake please a little more attack minded and can we please have a go at teams instead of us sitting back for the 1st 20/30 minutes as we all can see that when we play like that we cannot get ourselves going.
But hey if i was that good and management was that easy then we all would be a football club manager

His knee is fucked.
Flared up several weeks back and he is back in London to see specialist.
May go some way to explain his dip in form.
Begs the question as to why would the manager continue to play him when the knee was suspect. If I recall correctly I thing MH used to play him every other game due to the known condition of Beller's knee.
