Back in the sixties my elder brother was head waiter at Palm Court.

I remember in the seventies just before it's demise things must have been dire for them. I used to have an office on the Docks and I used to sample most foodstuffs coming through. We had quite a stock of things like Maize, Wheat and Nuts and Belle Vue were more than happy to take them off our hands. They were grateful for the stuff even when the quantities eventually were reduced to a trickle.

Friend of mine went to see David Essex at Belle Vue for the filming of ''Stardust'' (the sequel to ''That'll Be The Day'')

The bloke on the tannoy kept telling the crowd to shout ''we want Jim'' (Essex's name in the film) but they ignored him and kept shouting ''we want David'' instead!

Also, the scene in ''That'll Be The Day'' at the fun fair where Ringo Starr gets a good hiding was filmed at Belle Vue

What was the concert venue at BV called, went to see the Jackson 5 there when Jacko was the lead singer he mustv been about 12 at the time
Kings Hall

My dad used to take us there most weekends for the wrestling. I've seen all the old greats of British wrestling at Kings Hall. Even saw the Dynamite kid when he was a skinny little fucker before he went to America and pumped himself full of steroids and when he was one of Big Daddies tag partners in his regular tussles with Giant Haystacks.

Other notable things which happened at Belle Vue. A lion pissed on my gran and my mum got flashed by a bloke with a huge chopper.

Kings Hall

There was Kings Hall which was like a huge round tent / marquee and there was Queen Elizabeth Hall which was a room for conferences / exhibitions / gigs (see The Clash / Siouxsie & The Banshees youtube clips I have already posted on this thread.)

The Kings Hall also hosted the circus and it was after one circus that Shirley Bassey performed at and vowed never to perform there again after her changing room and indeed the stage stank of elephant shit!
