Belle Vue Zoo Manchester - FB

There was a bloke from Eccles.... Roy somebody..... made videos of Belle Vue (pre DVD's!). I got them for my mum and dad for Xmas!

Yeah Roy Nicholls, he made the videos through a large combination of videos taken from Belle Vue and put them onto VHS.

And... Wow! Very pleased with the response on here! Thank you to everybody who has replied! If you are on Facebook, add the page and join the rest who are already on there. It's not just pictures of my own, or a page purely based on the zoo, it's everything from the animals to the circus, to the begininnings and the decline of the site etc. Friends of the page are posting pictures of their own which even I haven't seen before and it's very interesting even for me to see other people's pictures as it does bring back memories for myself and allow us to see it in a different light.

Thank You!

Why can't we have something like that in Manchester now? And I don't mean that ski slope or airfix thing at the trafford centre that costs a fortune. Perhaps if we had a theme park or something similar, it would get kids off their xbox and out of the house.

What a place Belle Vue was Circus, Zoo, Speedway, Fun fair, Wrestling, Ten Pin bowling, Beer Keller etc so much to do for people and Family's.

Belle Vue was a brilliant place to visit .....

back in the halycon days of the sixties when Mamba was knee high to a grasshopper , all snotty nosed and impish , and wearing short pants , me mam would treat us to fun days out there ...... as soon as Belle Vue came into the view of the 53 bus i was on, i disembarked as fast as my little legs would carry me!

Between 2000-2008 i lived on the estate that was built on the land that Belle Vue vacated when it closed down .... and i actually went to the high school just across the road (Kirkmanshulme Lane) from Belle Vue amusement park/Zoo in the early seventies.

There will probably never be anything like that amusement park in Manchester ever again , and it's hard to imagine now that it ever really existed.
