The thing is with all these defenders in the numerous threads we have all look decent when they are shielded by defence minded midfields, the way we play we need defenders who can defend when exposed because our style of play dictates we leave ourselves open, walker has the pace to get himself out of shit, Laporte is a Rolls Royce of a player enough said and Mendy if he can get back to his old self (showing signs) leaves us a centre half short of having a top notch defence. Now who do we go and get?

£250m bid for van Dijk. I wish.

On a more serious note, Koulibaly would be the right man I reckon.

VVD may be the best defender in the PL but then again he does have the luxury of being shielded by 3 work horse defensive midfielders, something that he wouldn’t be provided here. Which brings up the issue with Koulibaly and Chilwell as well. We need defenders who are quick and have the ability to transition back to defend counters

It’s practically the only game this season where our winger was 1 v 1 the entire match. Of course Chilwell got rinsed by one of the best players in a 1 v 1 situation. Anyone would. Their problem was not knowing what to do with KDB, and that’s quite poor from Rodgers because Kev was hardly playing in an unusual role.

Personally I think he probably naively encouraged his team to bring their game to us. They didn't set up to defend or adapt to us. Don't think he foresaw the domination we lay upon them. Got caught up in their own hype. Wake up call for em.

Sums it up for me. Yes, Chilwell has lost the duel with in-form Mahrez (and who wouldn't?), but his disastrous performance was Rodgers' fault first and foremost - he left Chilwell alone vs KdB and Mahrez, City have immediately identified this weakness and attacked that flank all the game.

I think 'donkey' might be more appropriate.

think Chilwell would be fine here, think we need that top competition and rotation, allow Zinchenko and Foden to cover in CM/LW with Dave leaving, saves us money. Him or Grimaldo anyway.
