What sort of jobs are you looking for? A career in Law? On Jobsite there are 131 positions for solicitors in Manchester. And loads more law related careers.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.jobsite.co.uk/cgi-bin/advsearch?search_type=quick&location_within=10&fp_skill_include=solicitor&location_include=Manchester&daysback=7" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.jobsite.co.uk/cgi-bin/advsea ... daysback=7</a>

Not qualified as a solicitor, just got a law degree. Costs £15k if I want to do training as a solicitor, which is what I need a job to save for.

I have been applying for loads of secretary etc legal jobs but the catch 22 is that the majority of the require experience for at least a year doing that sort of work already. If I can't get a job at one of those places I can't get experience, and I cant get a job there because I don't have experience.

Leading Manchester law firm has an opportunity for a Paralegal to join their Catastrophic Injury team

The role involves assisting on complex serious injury cases dealing with drafting witness statements, preparing bundles and legal research amongst other tasks

The ideal candidate will be an LPC graduate with good academic qualifications and a proven interest in Personal Injury. In addition you should be highly motivated, organised and professional

Salary circa £16k

If you are interested, please call Rachel Parkin at Search Legal on 0161 835 8773 or email your CV to rachel.parkin@search.co.uk quoting reference rachelp/LEG/176747 (AGY)

The industrial Britain as many knew it is no more, we don't hardly produce anything.

when I look at old video footage from the 60's which isn't to far back I see thriving communities, many job opportunities at the forefront and a chance to progress.

Now in my generation I see alot of social depravity.

This is no coincidence.

if there was work, people Would work.

I had to go self-employed to work, and I earn fuck all.
I have the degree, the experience, the nice CV and so on... I can't get a job.

I don't blame people for the benefits system, I blame the private sector for the mass exodus of industry which has been outsourced all around the world in effort to cut wage costs.

Greed!

A big limit on the import of goods, a big limit on companies who operate over here outsourcing their workforce abroad and you'll see more job opportunities created.

I had a job in I.T Support, this was outsourced to India.

I have said the same mate, everyone is like "what have we done to deserve this"...

Well we have chosen to be suits in an office dealing in info as opposed to tangible products that are needed.
Strange how we outsourced to India and China and they are 2 of the fastest growing economies on earth.
Well we did invent unions!! China and India have over a billion people each they have little to no human rights and very relaxed employment laws along with no benefits system. This forces people to work for fuck all which means the companies can mass produce everything cheaper than anyone else

An LPC is the post grad course I have to do which costs about £15k. I could get a loan for the course costs but I need to save up so I've got money to live off for a year while I'm doing that.

Back to the point, I was just using myself as an example that its not all scrotes who just see it as a payday. Its just as much the fault of a shit system as it is the people who milk it for all they can get.

Imo nothing in life is for free, even if some cant find work they should somehow contribute to the community instead of watching jeremy kyle and sitting on their pot smoking ass....

My sister is on benefits and helped out part time in British Heart Foundation shop, she was told to stop or they would stop her some of her benefit as she wasn't available for work during these hours, she tried to explain she was getting experience dealing with customers and money, banking the takings, opening and closing the shop but dole didn't want to know

i.e. Join Tesco as an 18k pa handyman, go on one of their college schemes where you can become qualified in a trade while also earning a wage. Become a qualified electrician>>>>Wages go up to 26k pa. After a few years of on the job experience become self employed >>>> earn 50k pa. A few years later go to the bank and take a loan out to start your own business, employ a gang of electricians >>>> Earn 200k pa.

This pretty much applies to any job in the world. If you don't get off your arse, you'll never know.
That only works if you have a shitload of people sat on their sofas watching Jeremy Kyle. If they all went out to get a job there would be a massive employment shortage.

(Yes I am using a very broad brush to explain)

I'm happy to pay a bit towards the welfare system if it keeps me in a job.

How can i have earned too much when i have'nt earned a penny in up to 3 months at a time( i have 4 kids for fuck sake)
Not sure if this still applies nowadays but if your kids are in danger of being in poverty because you don't have enough earnings they HAVE to provide you with benefits for their well being.

I wish I could tell you which law / act this relates to

Social Security Contributions and Benefits Act 1992

'that the requisite contributions are being made to the cost of providing for the child'.

If you're overqualified just remove the big things from your CV. They'll just think you're eager compared to the muppets they normally employ.

You could always get a career development loan for the £15k

uniformed garbage.

You can get a maximum of £10K on a career development loan.
They are virtually impossible to get at the moment. Barclays and the Coop, the only banks that do them, use any excuse to deny the loan.

your sister has been screwed over by some jobsworth at the jobcentre.
She is entitled to volunteer a many hours a week and still get JSA as long as she is still actively seeking work and is available at 48 hours notice for an interview. The dickheads at the job centre even have their own briefing sheet clarifying this but most of the desk jockeys can barely read themselves. Tell her to make a formal appeal. It will be reversed I guarantee it.
In fact here's their own guidance notes about exactly that

Whilst there are nowhere near enough jobs to go around , the government cannot really blame people for exploiting the benefits system ........ you cannot blame somebody for not working (and claiming) , if he hasn't got the chance of a job to go to , or he's faced with employers who quite simply 'pick and choose' ......... we all know that some people look for excuses , and have absolutely no intention of working .... but there are many more who genuinely want to work both for money , and their dignity , and are 'stumped' at every opportunity.

I applied for the same job with my Sister in Law.

I have previous experience in the role, decent quals and so on.
she left school with nothing, didn't bother going to college either.

I received an auto response email thanking me for my application but they felt I wasn't suited for the post.

They employed her straight away.

I wasn't even given an interview opportunity, she was.

if you met her you'd question the human race.
Wouldn't harm a fly, but she is very dippy and has little life skills. quite immature.

Yet they gave her this job?

The employment system is messed up.

I spend years working, gaining skills and experience, building this Cv only to be punished because of

As said in my previous post, we as a country should be producing our own goods, fuck importation and start exporting... like we used to be known for.
