I think people need to realise that the Burton game was an extreme outlier of a fixture. Had the Checkatrade trophy game not been on I reckon our team would have been a LOT weaker.

Mendy played that game just because he could as it was as close to as worthless and uncompetitive as it got. Had we not had that game, or had we needed to play a stronger team that game, I strongly believe we wouldn't have seen Mendy for a long time yet.

They knew his knee would swell. They played him anyway as it was a great opportunity to.

If he's not back next week, I doubt we'll have a problem.

Mendy said after the game he felt fine so hopefully the swelling on his knee is just a standard reaction , Pep doesnt appear to be concerned , looking forward to watching a rampaging Mendy down the left wing soon , and we are lucky to have a player as good as Laporte to cover his forays forward.
