I don't think I've ever read something from Sam that made me think it was written by a United fan, if anything hes almost too down on United and effusive of City.

I think theres just a tendency to throw "hes a rag" at him whenever he reports something people dont like, and actually if you asked a random person to read his articles theyd never be able to tell you be supported United.
Agreed. Seems like such a great guy and never ever would have believed he's a United fan if he wouldn't have claimed so.

He seems to be quite off the mark though a lot of times regarding transfers (and yeah I know he was even a guest at the 93:20 podcast talking about that!), as much as I enjoy his work and ever since writing for The Athletic, reading all of his pieces.

His best work is his big piece specials he puts together two or three times a season. The effort levels deserve a lot of credit. It's just the transfer stuff that bothers me (majorly so); as far as I'm concerned he's a weaker predictor of things than Riyad Mahrez.

to me he doesn't look like he has the tekkers to be in this side ,kyle has improved greatly ,mendy seem a level or two below, he's been out a fair few months so I will give him the benefit of the doubt.

The Otamendi of LBs, can be really good and look absolutely fine for most of the game but then there's just an absolute mindfuck which ruins the rest.

I only turned on after 10 minutes yesterday so missed his supposed bad bits so he had a decent game from my perspective, but I don't think he has longevity, that Wolves error will live in the memory alongside Neville with Goater.

Unfortunately i think injuries has done it for him.

I've yet to see anything from him of which we bought him for/witnessed when first purchased him.

Guy gives me anxiety 80% of the time he has the ball at his feet or play goes through him.

We've just not had any luck whatsoever with elements of our defence.

Real shame...

He is a lucky boy, nearly did a wolves in the first 4 mins

He was fine.

United tried their hardest to get at him, had 3 players devoted to pressing him, with James cutting off Otamendi, then the Striker and Wan Bissaka charging up when he got the ball. That took away his pass to Sterling up the line, and his pass back to Otamendi and made him play some more difficult balls to get out of trouble.

But he did, he survived it, and we played around it until they had to stop because we were cutting them open down the right where Rashford/Greenwood had gone AWOL to press Mendy.

He is a bit awkward looking on the ball and his right foot needs some development, but no shit, he's coming back from 2 years out.

People are trying their best to make him into a boo boy, but Pep's going to keep playing him ahead of Zinchenko because he knows better.

Also played one of the passes of the night when he hit a knee-high ball first time over the top of their defence to Mahrez who should have scored.

Being out for a long time is over now,he does basic passes wrong,he has been training every day for months so he is not rusty anymore, putting in a few decent crosses does not make a player, zinchy still has some niggles from his operation,he is not being left out

No. Being out for a long time is not over the minute you get back. I don't know why you struggle with this so much, Guardiola said it would take 20 starts until he looked like the old Mendy and he's about 10 in.

The man has literally told you what's going to happen and you're too blind and impatient to see it, even though we've seen it already with Gundogan and KDB.

Also Zinchenko returned from his surgery 4 weeks ago and returned to training a month before that. If he's still got a niggle then why didn't it affect him against Sheffield, Zagreb, Oxford, Everton or Port Vale?

I'm sorry but he literally gave a short pass to a rag last night, not for the first time,he should have the basics down by now,he is doing it every game,he just might not be the same now,i hope he is although i've never been particulary convinced by him, that pass to mahrez last night did deserve a goal though
