He was the only player who could see everything that was happening for their goal, including the goal scorer coming in unmarked. For some reason he backed off instead of moving in to challenge. Not saying he would have stopped him from scoring but it would have made it that more difficult.
Cancelo was out of position for their goal resulting in Otto covering on the right, he didn’t get close enough to stop the cross but I think Mendy could have reacted better

The reason why I am not pointing the finger at Mendy so much, is because a number of errors occurred prior to the ball coming in the box. Bravo - woeful kick. Cancelo - nowhere. Otamendi - running in cement and not stopping the cross.

He did well against him last year. Its either him, angelino or cancelo at left back all are bad options but i think mendy is the best out of the three options

Did do okay at Anfield tbf but Laporte was there and stones and Walker were playing well at the time. He’s also had another major injury since then. If he plays I’d put Jesus in front of him wide left to give him defensive support and go raz on right.

He had a good game for me outside of the goal we conceded, and the chance they had just before.

Made a good few tackles and blocks, and contributed neatly in attack.

And me, thought he was OK

I do think unfortunately that there is a chance injuries have ruined him. I want to see more and would afford him more time, but I'm just not liking what I'm seeing atm. It'd be rotten luck but it does happen. He shouldn't be this far off the pace.

So the whole team in that second half were awful yet people are picking probley the best player out of a bad bunch as the one who was at fault for everything priceless don't see these people saying anything about kev who has been rubbish lately. the guy ain't got a chance. Remember how long he's been out with some nasty injuries hey.

I can see what you're saying but he was already tracking a runner to the back post.
