I'll risk naffness and quote myself from a couple of years back on the topic of City Left Backs. I believe the record is something like....
Delph - Frequent Liability
Zinchenko - Just not good enough in defence
Danilo - Really bad at LB, can't really defend full stop.
Kolarov - Permanent 'weakest link' and fan target. Soft, slow, etc.
Clichy - Shite, can't pass, same defensive mistakes as Delph, therefore worse.
Bridge - Worst buy in a decade.
Garrido - Weak as piss.
Ball - Poor. Baloon gate.
Ben Thatcher - FFS
Stuart Pearce - 39 years old.
And now Mendy, who has at times resembled an actual, trained, professional circus grade clown, when required to defend.
It's our worst position. Tactically, LB is frequently the weakest, most exposed link in many teams, not just us. But without either Barry or Fernandinho, (and then, without a true left sided CB), we simply don't cover it.
BUT BY ECK CAN WE BUY ANYONE WORSE THAN THIS LATEST ONE?
(Probably)
