Benjamin Mendy (Back In Training)

have you watched them this season?

Yes, a few times.

They failed their hardest test so far in Shakhtar. They beat Lazio who I think will finish sixth 4-1 after going down a goal then scored 3 goals in 5 minutes after Lazio self destructed.

Milik is out for 4-5 months and they have no replacement.

Sarri is an excellent manager but he isn't backed financially and they haven't improved the squad this summer. Mertens and Callejon are both 30. With Milik out they will both play a lot more.

After the international break they have Cagliari at home, then in a week Roma (A), City (A), & Inter (H). We'll see their level. They are a great team and will challenge as they've done the past few years but won't win it.

Why on earth would any blue post that when none of us have a clue how serious this injury is?

You need to understand the poster to answer that question. Kiam's raison d'etre is to be controversial (or at least, contrary) and in addition to this he's a right drama queen.

Ok, I just thought he was a rag wum. Fair play though, even amongst blues there must be a small minority of total dicks. Thanks for the heads up.

Crutches are a precaution and only used to avoid wait bearing whilst the injury is fully assessed. BM will be able to walk perfectly normally, but when you're worth over fifty million they won't take any risks.

Our medical team will have an idea what it is, the optimist in me tells me the brace etc is just a precautionary measure so as not to aggravate anything until he's seen the specialist, what was he like after the initial injury in the 5 or so minutes he stayed on , twisting, turning etc ?

If it was serious there's no way that he would even be at the game last night.
Never wear the shirt again? Give me strength.

Great player that he is, anyone who saw him limp out of the France England match earlier in the summer, and with us buying him with an injury, will have known his knee was likely to give up in a big way at some point, just hope he recovers quickly

Find it bizarre he would be at the game traversing up and down steps on crutches in a brace if he was seriously injured ala Gundy.

I know crazy things happen in football but this would be up with them if it was more than a medial strain and had the potential to get worse is it was a ACL or a PCL.

Wild speculation from 1 month to career ending injury so far on this thread!
I think he is vitally important to us and would be a massive loss.
My complete guess is....As he was running around for 5 mins after the tackle, as he was at game and allowed to hobble up the stairs and as he is ok to wait until tomorrow before going to sees Peps knee Specialist in Barcelona it won't be as bad as feared. Back in December
I've done my cruciate twice mate. Intense pain then you think oh it's ok and are able to run around a bit etc. First time I played for about 10 mins before realising I'd done something bad.

Absolute cobblers a good 50% of matches someone goes off injured and 95% of these the injury is trivial.
It was a friendly match and no one watching could reasonably know the extent of injury or likelihood of recovery.

Only City could buy an injury prone left back to replace TWO left backs and then have to use an even more injury prone midfielder as his emergency cover. Delph will not let anyone down when he's on the pitch, but how long will he be on the pitch for? Already this isn't far off his longest spell of being fit for City, and it's only a handful of games! Please sign more cover in January. Get Michael Ball on a free again if we have to! Anyone!

obviously Pep saying he might look for a replacement in Jan hardly allays anyone's fears but there is some rampant speculation on here!

Highly unlikely the medico's and Mendy wouldn't already know if he has done his cruciate 5 days after the incident.

Didn't fool Inspector Ducker of the DT! A more than sizeable chunk of his report this morning is about the Mendy injury and how 'the months and months and months' out will impinge very unfavourably on our season. But then goes on to make the point that Fabulous Delph was an adequate replacement. Delph will be a decent left back as far as defensive duties go, but I can't see him burning down the wing like Menders!

One thing that amuses me is the player scoring these people indulge in. If you add up the individual player scores Shaktar scored two more than we did! How does that work? Must be down to the one or two players who outscored their opposite numbers?
