I suspect a Lachman test has been done - which is an exterior test an orthopedist can perform to assess whether there is a potential ACL rupture. It is regarded as a fairly accurate test, although not 100% and needs to be confirmed by an MRI and ultimately by an arthroscopic probe. Of course I hope I'm wrong, but I fear the Lachman test has shown as positive, which is probably the basis of the rumours leading to Castles's tweet. Either way, Qatar Blue is correct - a torn ACL does not heal (there is no blood supply): replacement surgery is the only option and it is indeed 6-9 months recovery as was the case for Ilkay.
