Benjamin Mendy (Back In Training)

I fell over and grazed my knee once so I feel I have some firsthand experience of this.
I'm pretty sure he'll walk again but I suppose the most important question is; will the poor lad still able to tweet?

I posted yesterday they initially felt it would be a month or so out, so can only apologise about jumping the gun on that

Whilst Castles is talking the 9 monther, I have literally just been told they fully expect and are planning for a recovery timeframe of up to 7 months

His season is done

Has indeed gone
Worth noting this doctor is at the recommendation at Pep and Pep NEEDS Mendy at his best to meet the balance we saw at Watford for example
Whilst I was told this was precautionary, I think they believe he will end up being out for circa 4 weeks
Wasn't that mendy on crutches in the tunnel after raheem's goal last night.
Check pictures as replay shows Pep celebrating.

100% youre right he was at the game mate

I got a text saying hes going for a scan and I took it as now.
Just apologised as the news around the CFA was pretty raw at that point

It does feel like we might not see him on the pitch again until pre-season. It's extremely deflating, especially considering Pep himself said we'll find it difficult to attack fluently without him.

Disappointing news but have to say I was impressed with Delph last night. Just hope he can stay fit.
Every team more or less has this happen so we have to get on with it.

Feel for Mendy if he is out for a long time, even the whole season which looks possible.

His attacking play will be missed.

His fitness record is not good. Whilst we have alternatives & Delph played defensively well I would hope the club is looking seriously at what options are available to buy a left back in January. Possibly another trip to Germany for our scouting team.

Gutted for him. He'll miss the rest of the season, and the World Cup, its a real shame.

This might just fuck our season up totally. We should have prioritized a LB over Danilo considering we have Fernandinho and Stones who can fill the RB spot if needed or could have just kept Sagna at RB. Anyways thats the past, but the news is extremely deflating.

Ryan Bertrand would complete the defence spend the money we had put aside for Sanchez

Maybe there is a glimmer of hope that they need a second opinion, thats why he is being diagnosed by dr cugat...
up to 7 months... cut that down to 4-5 and he is back for the end of the season.... we can hope.

No just thought if he was virtually crippled for life, as some are making out, then standing up even on crutches seems odd.
When I had knee trouble lying in bed with pillow under knee was best position.

Presumably Mendy will have been insured to the hilt, leaving us with ample funds to buy another left back in January. Also, in the mean time, aren't we allowed to sign a player who is out of contract. There must be one about somewhere in Europe.
Doesn't work like that.

3 months to make do with what with have; Delph, Fernandinho, Danilo, Mangala, (Sane), Zinchenko, then we can go into the January window and get someone (Bertrand fits the mould and will be eligible for the Champions League).

Tough games in the next 3 months:
Chelsea (A), Napoli (H), Napoli (A), Arsenal (H), Leicester (A), United (A), Spurs (H)

Shakhtar (A) - Might not matter.
Liverpool (A) - January 13th.

So we've got 7 tough games to make do without him, of which Chelsea (A), Napoli (A), Spurs (H) and possibly United (A) are the only really tricky fixtures.

Obviously it's gutting news, gutted for Mendy but I think Pep will have a plan.

We have at least 20 matches before we can bring in a new left back so that's 20 matches for Delph, Danilo or Zinchenko to impress as a potential long term left back.

Very disappointed for Mendy as he's not only a brilliant player but also he seems a big personality and great for team morale.

Pep said in last night's presser that Delph and Zinchenko will be the left backs. Probably a lot of work will be done with these 2 in training in the coming weeks. Zinchenko's not in CL squad though.
