He could have sold all his cars and watches . All of it was his fault for breaking police bail conditions and getting slammed up and couldnt work , sympathy is zeroHe was nearly 2 years without any income to pay for anything.

I've been an IFA for 22 years and when starting out was given a profound piece of advice by an elderly gentleman who had been a tax inspector turned tax advisor which I have religiously stuck to when advising clients about tax mitigation schemes and HMRC and there predecessor. His advice was "it is better to be at the right hand side of the devil, than in his path".

I'm not an expert in footballer finance but anyone with a sizeable amount of income wants to set up some kind of shell company as it's a lot more tax efficient than having all your cash coming in as PAYE.Presumably City would.have been taking his taxes out each month so this would be outside commercial work?

HMRC have DTAs with most countries tax authorities. These include agreements to assist one another to collect any purported liabilities.
