Makes me wonder. Fits the multiple position role but we have been scouting Mario at Porto. Also with Gvardiol expected to come in Akanji will get most of his minutes on the right side as well.

He's a very good player. Expect Akanji will cover Walkers role as a defensive right sided player with recovery pace and Pavard will be the jack of all trades across the back line.

It makes a lot of sense. Totally different player to Walker, but arguably a better fit for the way we play now.


Big concern for me would be the pace we lose from Walker, but maybe Pep thinks having one of Akanji/Ake/Gvardiol is enough.
