Firstly, the obvious, that is when he’s contract ends. For all I know, he could leave at the end of next season. But he has given hints in interviews that he doesn’t plan on staying beyond that. He has been here a long time, which is already unlike him. I understand that when it is talked that he will leave at some point, people here say “why would he leave, he won’t have it easier anyway”. But that’s not how things workCare to tell everyone why your so certain about this?
His contract has always had an end date. And every time, he's extended past it. Maybe he will have had enough, or maybe he'll be totally reinvigorated by the challenge of building his third great City team.Firstly, the obvious, that is when he’s contract ends. Would he have 9 months ago? That is the point. Ake is a different footballer under Pep. If you want a fair comparison you have to compare Pavard to the Ake we bought…not the Ake Pep developed.Pavard defending skill is nothing compared to Ake even though they are both not very good at attacking.
Grealish just ran circle around Pavard every time we played against them from minute 1. Ake would last at least half hour against best wingers.
So why hasn’t Phillips improvedWould he have 9 months ago? That is the point. Ake is a different footballer under Pep. If you want a fair comparison you have to compare Pavard to the Ake we bought…not the Ake Pep developed.
Did Ake improve straight away? When he got into the team were you happy he was playing? No I bet but he had a great performance against Saka, he then got a run in the side. All Kalvin has had is one game in a much changed team and minutes here and there. He hopefully has his head around what if asked of him now and we will see a better player. So why hasn’t Phillips improved
Whilst I understand what you are saying Ake had played in important games and performed at a high level.Did Ake improve straight away? When he got into the team were you happy he was playing? That’s the major concern as Rodri can’t play 55 plus games againWhilst I understand what you are saying Ake had played in important games and performed at a high level.
Phillips just looks slow on the ball mainly because he doesn't receive it on the half turn, so is easily closed down.
These for me are genuine concerns and I really hope he kicks on this pre-season because we are gonna have to rely on him a lot more.
I don’t rate and never did rate Phillips, Pavard is just another meh signing if it happens.Whilst I understand what you are saying Ake had played in important games and performed at a high level.
